Pope Francis demands 'legitimate redistribution' of wealth

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Pope Francis called Friday for governments to redistribute wealth to the poor in a new spirit of generosity to help curb the "economy of exclusion" that is taking hold today.

Francis made the appeal during a speech to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of major U.N. agencies who met in Rome this week.

Latin America's first pope has frequently lashed out at the injustices of capitalism and the global economic system that excludes so much of humanity, though his predecessors have voiced similar concerns.

On Friday, Francis called for the United Nations to promote a "worldwide ethical mobilization" of solidarity with the poor in a new spirit of generosity.

"What's disingenuous is people who know better proposing that the Vatican be dispossessed, à la Henry VIII, as a real-world solution to anything. It seems to have more to do with envy (which is not a virtue) than with a charitable result."

Envy of what?

Fine. He can set the example start with church holdings.

It's EASY to spend other people's money.

Learn to read beyond the headlines:

Pope Francis:

‘An awareness of everyone’s human dignity should encourage everyone to share with complete freedom the goods which God’s providence has placed in our hands. ’

This is a statement against crony capitalism.

redistribution = success penalty

who determines the penalty? those who have “got theirs” and want to prevent others from rising.

Precisely

Bibilical charity comes from the heart; redistribution is nothing but theft of hard-won wages, from the productive to the “gibsmedats.”

“Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s. Render unto God that which is God’s.” I don’t ever remember seeing it anywhere in the Bible that the government is supposed to redistribute wealth. And I’ve probably read the Bible more than this Pope has read.

“Francis urged the U.N. to promote development goals that attack the root causes of poverty and hunger, protect the environment and ensure dignified labor for all.”

Well spoken in the words of Stalin, Hitler, Lenin and
all the rest, like a true died in the wool communist.
I’ve been saying all along, this pope is a stealth
communist/fascist and part of the homosexual agenda.
Next he will be putting the finishing touches on the
churches acceptance of civil unions for same sex couples.
This guy is as big a fraud as Obama.

“He shared the story of the conversion of the tax collector who had been cheating people & keeping a cut for himself.”

I’m glad you caught that and shared it.

“Latin America’s first pope has frequently lashed out at the injustices of capitalism and the global economic system that excludes so much of humanity,”

Well, which is it that he wants? This statement is attacking capitalism, which is not in practice anywhere, while also saying that the global economic system of redistributing wealth ends up excluding most of humanity from prosperity....

Seems rather lacking of intellect to me.

Redistribution of wealth = success penalty

Redistribution of economic benefits = something potentially very different

That something different I’d interpret as access to markets and opportunity. Which means lower taxes, less regulation, government (the state) taking it’s proper (ie legitimate) steps to limit crony capitalism.

Capitalism, as I think you point out, isn’t an exclusitory system.

So how can someone accuse something that isn’t exlcusatory as being exclusatory?

What he seems to be going after are plutocracies and crony capitalism.

I don’t think he lacks intellect in doing so. I think the MSM, which is interpreting and reconveying his words to fit their own preconceived notions are the ones who lack intellect ...

Cutting our $4 trillion government and setting a flat income tax of 10%-15% is the key to our economic future. However, I wouldn’t call a tax cut a “benefit”. That’s like the Stockholm syndrome where the captives become so grateful to their captives for their favors. Rather, we allow government the “benefit” of taking our hard-earned, rightfully possessed money. Government, like the Black Hand of Sicily, isn’t doing us any favors by not robbing us of our own money.

"What he seems..." is the problem.

If the Pope wants to condemn/teach, he needs to be direct with tangible examples of naming corporations/individuals/Nations/economic systems and get a clear point across. Francis is all over the place, lol.

He is economically everything to everybody (Including the crony politicians/corporate world who admire their charitable contributions) which causes all sorts of confusion. Designed? I hope not.

Ultimate government redistribute wealth through the barrel of a gun.

100% on the money. It should be taught in ALL schools that is exactly what government "help" entails.

So many people don't realize that is what is ultimately behind ALL government action -- obey or in the end deadly force will be used.

Pfft, Obama can’t even be bothered to help out his dirt-poor African brother.

And Moochelle isn’t about to share anything, least of all her food when she gets near a trough of tamales.
