And how many times will he demand this happen - in perpetuity? Give the wealth to the poor and it will either disappear or find its way back to a chosen few, always. Why he thinks destroying a system for a temporary flush of wealth is good is beyond me, it only brings everyone down in the end, the poor the worst.

“in a new spirit of generosity”?
I thought when Jesus talked about taking care of the poor, he was talking to his followers, not Caesar.

The Catholic church is committing suicide. It is infested with sodomites and socialists.

Let’s wait to see what he said instead of what the AP says that he said.

Thou shall not cove other people’s wealth.
Thou shall not steel.
The pope is in league with Satan. His lord and mater is the devil.
To: Abathar
Hey, Frank!
Thou shall not steal!
Thou shall not covet!
Clear?

That’s not the governments job and the Bible says as much. The Pope should go back and read it some time.

Most of the western countries already have varying amounts of redistribution

I’d like to see a Pope call for limited government that does not steal from the people to maintain itself, or does not engage in massive social-experimentation.

How about the Catholic Church sell off some of their works of art and other relics. I’m pretty sure that’s some easy millions they can redistribute as they see fit.

Lets go back to the 1100s to 1500s, and observe European society under Catholic Church domination. Letters of Indulgence? You can go and look for various communities that were virtually wiped out and burned down because of Catholic Church leadership. The city of Wiesbaden? Burned to the ground because the local bishop felt they were not complying with taxation routines. Seems like more of the same...in modern times?
