“If it happened the way you tell it, it is very bad.”
It did! I’ve come to the inescapable conclusion that you simply can’t give any LEO ANY reason to draw their weapon, because they will kill you, and they will get away with it. All this “protect and to serve” BS tattooed on the sides of their cars is just that, BS. The only thing they “protect” is their own a$$ and the only thing that the “serve” is their own wallet (or maybe the whit collar thugs in the local government).
I know plenty of them. Never said I didn’t.
93 year olds can shoot. Maybe that’s what this is about.
Maybe it’s a murderous above the law cop who belongs behind bars but will never get justice served.
But I know plenty of women 90 years old who don’t belong behind the wheel, nor should be living alone with a weapon to defend themselves. The family to be ashamed.
I;m just saying what this looks like, realizing the flames it’ll cause
Maybe you are correct. If so it’s not a good situation.
They don’t call it the thorazine shuffle for nothing.
“Well, there is *one* difference...a 90 year old might have more experience pulling a trigger than a 5 year old.”
Perhaps. But consider this. Fireman commonly rush into burning buildings to rescue people. Even to rescue pets...
Police don’t behave that way in general. For police, it seems that it’s all about them. Fireman are hero’s, police are scum.
If you can’t handle a situation with a 93 year old woman with or without a gun, what the hell are you getting paid for?
Have worked with five year olds and have worked with the elderly. A physically healthy 93 year old, and there’s no other kind, can manage a house. a five year old cannot. Not physically.
The elderly who live at home are strong. It’s how they got to that point. When agitated into a tantrum, much stronger than most.
Not to say the cop is off the hook here,
Pretty small town (population 4500). I'm curious as to why the occupying army had absolutely no idea about the neighborhood.
Looking closely at the nameplate of the officer in the photo, the name does not agree with the one in the story.
I agree about firemen...but remember that the only enemies a fireman has are flames, smoke and collapsing buildings.A cop all too often finds him or herself up against a 30 year old psychopath with a firearm...or a neurologically compromised 90 year old with a firearm.
police are scum.
Until your 10 year old granddaughter has been kidnapped...and then you're calling them every 10 minutes.
RIP, Ms. Golden.
May God bless your soul.
I lived in a large suburban town in a smaller village, growing up. Pop 60K, the village, with its own police, 2,000. Everyone knew everyone.
But that wasn’t texas
My granddaughters will have instructions to inform the kidnapper(s) that Grandpa will consider their name(s) to be "Zed" if they don't do the right thing immediately.
"Honey Grandpa don't give a sh*t".
Perhaps holding because she doesn't wear a holster around the house?
"What we believe is that she was instructed to drop the weapon, that is my understanding," Russ said.
Was she hard of hearing?
“Until your 10 year old granddaughter has been kidnapped...and then you’re calling them every 10 minutes.”
I will take care of my 10 yo granddaughter, thank you very much. I wouldn’t expect the police to be of much help...
Well, we'll know the truth when the department issues the results of the investigation!

My mom just passed away at the age of 94. Drove herself to her normal haunts up until a few months before she died. Never had an accident her entire life, and no dents in her 10 year-old car.
At the age of 90 she wanted to try water-skiing again after not doing it after 6 years. But we wouldn’t let her try.
I remember her saying “Oh to be 84 again!”

“um, no dog?”
That was my first thought. Your side doesn’t win unless you hit both the dog AND the old lady.
All sarcasm aside, the tyrannical state we are entering into is truly giving me chills. This is a major search on Yahoo right now, so at least people are aware and looking at this.
