Massachusetts ditches RomneyCare health exchange

RomneyCare’s pioneering health insurance exchange is headed for the scrap heap.

Bay State officials are taking steps this week to junk central parts of their dysfunctional health insurance exchange—the model for President Barack Obama’s health care law—and merge with the federal enrollment site HealthCare.gov.

The decision is part of an expensive plan that would occur alongside a parallel, last-ditch attempt to still build a working state system.

The state on Monday announced the hiring of hCentive, a Virginia-based contractor that helped construct the Kentucky and Colorado exchanges. The company would rush to build a viable state exchange in time for the next enrollment season, which begins Nov. 15. …

“merging” with O-care. That’ll fix it right up.

Even Politico said it was the model for O-care! Can’t they ever exhibit at least one moment of logic? O-care was modeled after R-Care. R-care doesn’t work so it’ll merge with O-care?!

Oregon did the same thing ...

OTOH, my state [MD] is forging ahead with fixing its broken web site. New contractor [same as in CT], about $70M more bucks. But, they are using the same screwed up project managers that they used b4. The CT project manager says this ain’t a good move ...

Plus, they only have 6 months to get it up and running - when they had 3 years to get the first one working right [and failed] ...

My Guv [O’Malley] can’t admit defeat and go to the fed web site, as he has misguided and delusional aspirations to be prez in 2016 ...

Funny how the private sector can do it with a fraction of the monetary investment. The lib politicians of this country are making Caligula and Nero seem sane.

Here’s the sad thing. It’s easier to buy car insurance, after a DWI episode and jail-time, than it is to buy health insurance. This is the single comparison which amazes me and no journalist will dare discuss the comparison.

They're dumping Romney Care for 0bamaCare? When faced with a choice of any kind will the people of MA always take the worst of the two?

How many starving children could have been fed with the hundreds of millions of dollars wasted on these failed exchanges?

The Obama Administration has declared war on children.

R-Care already failed, O-Care will definitely fail.

What??? AnotherDemocrat state that can’t make this turkey fly? Didn’t we hear that MA was the poster child for successful socialized health care? Lies, lies and more lies.

And these are the same politicians who assure us they know how to “fix” the illegal immigration problem that they caused with all their past immigration bungling. Don’t believe either party on this one either.

Enrollment season? Really? WTF is an enrollment season?

You want insurance? Go by the GD policy from any company you desire.

I remember a discussion with a fellow intelligence officer who was also an attorney on proscriptive and prescriptive law. This was the late 1980s.

As I recall the US was a proscriptive law nation—if anything was not proscribed—illegal, it was fine, do what you will.

In the USSR, anything that was not prescribed by law was illegal—now boarding for the Gulag on track one illegal.

The government wrote what was legal and anything not declared legal was illegal.

America is now under prescriptive law as far as I can tell.

Off topic... but I was talking with my mother not long ago, and telling her that I was puzzled that the governor of MD had not declared a state of emergency, since the heavy snows this winter had knocked down so many trees. She asked me who the governor of MD is... I could not tell her.

MD and CA show two facets of liberalism. Culturally, they are very different, but they are both deeply mired in liberalism. I'm looking forward to eventually moving to a conservative state.

Enrollment season? Really? WTF is an enrollment season?

My insurer, United Health Care, provided by my former employer, has always had an "enrolment season", I believe it's the month of October. It's the only time of year when you can change the type of policy that you have, up the benefits, up my portion of the premium.

Now wonder, the Rat Willard is the LEADER of the GOP.

They can’t afford it so they are going to bill the rest of us. The end result is predictable—but will

JOHN BOEHNER SAVE US? Even Boehner scoffs and ridicules that idea. “IT’S SO SINKING HARD!!! BOO, HOO, HOO. Obamacare can’t be repealed! It’s here to stay! Boo, Hoo, Hoo. It’s too, too, too, too HARD!!!”

Meanwhile America dies. The greatest nation in the history of the world is destroyed by a Kenyan.

“everything is going to plan.”

Yes. States close up and fold into the Feds. The Feds become the single, largest market for health insurance. Then the feds lean on the insurers till they break. Then - single payer.

I give it 10 years.
