This feels like the edge of a full-blown war now.

The Rhetoric being used at the UN right now by our own government is VERY disturbing.

Russian translation: EU, US interfering with Russia’s attempt to grab more Ukrainian territory.

This comment by Russia isn’t disturbing?

***The West has cut all paths to a peaceful solution...***

This administration is good at that.

Thanks for posting this story from RT - Putin’s propaganda outlet for simple-minded Western consumption. There is plenty of evil to go around, but we need to remember that the Russians always suck.

A DemoRat war to distract from the economic collapse at home, six months before midterms?

Seems we have that classic common enemy threat to our "nation" from the outside.

How surprising.

Eastern Ukraine should start mobilizing a self defense force if they want to keep themselves out of EU/IMF imposed debt slavery.

Western Ukraine should start learning Polish. :^)

The February revolution in Kiev was the opening shot of the present conflict, and was fired by the West. Russia countered by annexing Crimea to prevent NATO from seizing its only year-round warm water port at Sevastopol and the key airbases established for its strategic defense. Now Russia must secure a broad land bridge to Crimea and the Black Sea through eastern Ukraine as a strategic defensive necessity.

Washington has countered with sanctions aimed at crashing Russia's economy, and Moscow has further countered by crippling the Visa-MasterCard stranglehold on clearing financial transactions, and may form a new strategic anti-Western alliance with Beijing. Russia's non-military "nuclear" option is to demand that Europe purchase its natural gas in gold or some other non-USD or Euro (USD-linked) medium. If the Petrodollar is crashed, our own economy could be ruined. The stakes are getting progressively higher.

Economic sanctions are acts of war, just short of physical violence. The purpose of sanctions is to hurt just enough to achieve a desired political outcome, but not to hurt so much as to provoke a military response. That is a fine line to draw, and a dangerous one with a hostile alliance encircling the borders of its adversary. I can't help but recall how Fred Thompson's character declared in The Hunt for Red October, "This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."
