President Obama chose Good Friday to announce another delay in the Keystone XL pipeline, which would bring crude oil from Canada to our refineries near the Gulf. If the pipeline is not approved, Alberta's oil will go to Asia-and the United States will be the big loser.
According to Terry O'Sullivan, general president of the Laborers International Union of North America, writing in the Washington Post on April 25, "Despite efforts by an environmental fringe to hijack the mantle of progressivism or attempts by the far right to make Keystone a wedge issue, energy development is not a right-wing or a left-wing issue. It is critical to our country and to all of us."
With the latest delay, President Obama is widening the split in his fragile Blue-Green coalition. The blue collar workers want the pipeline; the greens want the oil to stay where it is, in the ground.
Pipelines are ideal for transporting liquids. The shipping container, the pipe, is static while the oil moves. The container is buried under several feet of earth. With road, rail, and barge, both the container and the commodity are moving over the surface, sometimes in close proximity to people and other traffic, as well as to other large containers moving in different directions.
Some environmentalists think that they are doing the world's climate a favor by forcing Obama to block Keystone's approval. They think that if the oil does not come to America through a pipeline, it will stay in the ground. But Canada will not leave a valuable resource untouched just because America does not want to approve the pipeline. The oil will be consumed pipeline or not, as it should be.
It turns out that the Keystone pipeline is likely the most environmentally friendly alternative.

Obama is afraid to approve the pipeline because it would tick off his enviro-nazi liberal base. In their minds, only evil conservative Republicans are in favor of pipelines, while good earth worshipping liberal Democrats oppose pipelines. It would break the hearts and spirit of the enviro-nazis to see one of their own approve this evil pipeline.
Obama will not approve this project as long as there is a dollar to be had from the Luddite Left going to his wallet.
You have SAID IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anything that hurts America and its energy supply is a winner for Obama. He just can’t reject it for fear his slaves in the unions revolt.
Pray America wakes up
There is nothing about Canada for Obama to like. By killing Keystone he gets to hurt a successful white Christian country AND the USA. A toofer.
Neither side wants the pipeline approved or denied.
While the battle goes on, so does the fundraising.
Actually, this is a big winner for the Republican party. Problem is rather then creating ads about this, they are silent.
I would be running ads every day saying that if this oil goes to china, with their primitive refining technology, the earths temperature will rise to dangerous levels and kill millions. In addition to the pollution of our oceans due to shipping accidents which would cause spills. That’s why the oil needs to be refined in the US, through a pipeline. Cheaper, more environmentally friendly energy which will prevent global warming.
Heck, force Obama and the left to say something. I would go so far as to sue environmental groups for causing global warning due to their depraved indifference. Openly call them watermelons. Embarrass them. That’s what Alinsky said was the lefts biggest fear.
Time to go on the offensive.
It would be interesting to note just how much funding the enviro-nazis get from deep-pocketed foreign special interests that continue to benefit from this pipeline *not* being constructed. My guess is that Putin, the Saudis, the Venezuelans, etc. have a stake in the continued 'success' of American enviro-nazis.
It's been critical all the decades since O'Sullivan's one and only political party started to stand in the way of ANWR and go full flakey about "global warming". He'll be out on his ass for this little episode, despite the fact that in the fall that neither he nor his union will be backing any Republican candidate for any office.
America usually does... AFTER the roof has fallen in.
