Ukraine's deputy foreign minister said Friday he fears an imminent Russian invasion.
"We have the information we are in danger," Danylo Lubkivsky told reporters at the United Nations.
He spoke as an official in Ukraine confirmed that pro-Russian forces had detained a team of military observers with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The official said the team would be released after further investigation.
Lubkivsky said 20 members had been taken and called it shocking and unprecedented. "We demand to release hostages," he said.
Tensions have spiked as Russia increases military exercises along the Ukraine border. Lubkivsky called it a "very dangerous development" and demanded that Russia withdraw its troops.
"We are going to protect our motherland against any invasion," Lubkivsky said. "We call on the Russians to stop this madness."

The Kremlin has near complete control over the media and is even passing tighter laws on internet bloggers, to silence them the way the Chicoms silence their people. During the last election, voter apathy in Russia was extreme, and there is evidence of extensive voter fraud in favor of Putin. Hence why Alex Jones and other Kremlin tools were accusing the election monitors of being part of a NWO plot. They want everyone to think that Putin has 100 percent support.
I seriously doubt that 80 percent of the Russian people support an individual who routinely has his opponents in Russian media, government, or dissident movements, beaten and murdered.
This is what they want you to believe because their position is based upon a NWO-Alex Jones conspiracy, and you can't prove a premise like that among rational human beings. There was no coup in Ukraine, and these goobers cannot prove any of their claims, which they repeat constantly anyway.
We have zips in the wire, boys and girls. As Bugs Bunny would say, having read this tripe..."what a maroon!"
Very appropriate.
Capt. Harris: Be advised. We’ve got zips in the wire down here.
Phantom Pilot: Roger your last, Bravo Six. Can’t run it any closer. We’re hot to trot and packing snake and nape, but we’re bingo on fuel.
Capt. Harris: For the record, it’s my call. Dump everything you’ve got left on my pos. I say again, expend all remaining in my perimeter. It’s a lovely “.” war. Bravo Six out.
Phantom Pilot: Roger your last, Bravo Six. We copy. It’s your call. Get them all in their holes down there. Hang tough, Bravo Six. We’re coming cocked for treetops.
I believe that was Captain Dale Dye, in Platoon.
Yes it was.He played "Captain Harris" in Platoon and,IIRC,was also a technical adviser to the producer and/or director of the film.He also played one of General Marshall's aides in Private Ryan.
I can’t imagine these days Captain Dye would have any kind words for Oliver Stone.
And of course, he was Colonel Sink in Band of Brothers.
He actually ran a boot camp that all of the actors in Band of Brothers had to go through before the actual filming started.
Zips in wire here and zips in wire there. Platoon it is.
Mrs FE’s son is at Pendleton right now, unfortunately on MRP due to double fractured tibia. He is healing and will slip into the next Kilo Company graduation schedule. Mrs FE is having a tough time with it; me, I know he is gaining wisdom and bravery.
