David Corn of Mother Jones has assembled a number of clips from Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) over the years criticizing former President Ronald Reagan for the budgets he signed into law. In some cases, Paul declared Reagan worse on budgetary issue than his predecessor, former President Jimmy Carter.

Cruz > Paul

period

I still consider Paul an overall asset to the cause, but it’s becoming clear he’s got more of his Daddy’s genes than we first thought.

Anyone still willfully pushing for him as President needs to be laughed out of conservatism.

The largest point against libertarians is their pacifist streak. They do not have a realistic view of the world and the dangers it poses.

Sure, we can caucus with libertarians when they talk about shrinking domestic Gov't. But none of them make strong leaders.

Yep, another reason why a President Cruz would be the better choice.

Ya think?

Paul ran as a Tea Party candidate. He is not even close.
He looks like a nut job.

Is it true?

Or is that irrelevant?

BTW :Reagan was POTUS 8 years Carter only 4.
So Carters potential was never fully met.

The only thing Jimmah excelled at was douchebaggery.
(I believe that’s the technical term or art.)
Like JEB, even his own Mama warned us off him.

And we can do a lot better than RandMcNally.

Reagan is my favorite President. Carter I have always rated as the worst until ‘the bent one’ and zero cam along. Now I have to call him third worst.

Regardless, we do pride ourselves in honesty here at Free Republic, and I am forced to admit that during his second term Reagan signed some real stink bomb budgets. And he allowed some really stupid things to happen (how about repealing the ITC tax credit - eight months into the tax year!)

I think some of the physical problems that would take him from us were already starting to affect his strength during his second term. Really sad, because Regan's first term was magnificent!

They didn’t slander or even mention a conservative. The article is about Rand Paul.

“Anyone still willfully pushing for him as President needs to be laughed out of conservatism.”

I truly believe that we should be trying to elect as many people as possible from outside the system. American politics has been infiltrated, and I don’t think any of us know for sure who can be trusted and who can’t from within the system.

The only way to be sure is to bring in fresh blood that is untainted. That in and of itself isn’t easy, but it is necessary.
