HH: I begin with Robert Costa, political reporter for the Washington Post. Hello, Robert, and a Happy Easter to you.
RC: Hey, great to join you.
HH: Now Robert, its springtime in Washington, and no ones doing much. The first thing I want to ask you is when do they all come back? And what do you expect them to do when they all get back there?
RC: Well, theyre all coming back from recess next Monday, and I dont expect much to be done except perhaps jockeying for a possible leadership race, and getting ready for the midterms in terms of their political rhetoric.
HH: Thats what I want to talk to you about, is the leadership race in a second. But in terms of legislation, we are essentially done under the Murray-Ryan deal. Theyll pass the appropriations bill in a line with that. They have to do a doc fix at somewhere, but thats it, right?
RC: Thats right, and I keep checking in with my sources every day in the House especially about immigration. And though theres been a flurry of articles saying that Boehner may do this, or Cantor has interest in that, I very much doubt, based on my reporting, that any significant immigration legislation is going to hit the floor. If anything does, its going to be kind of a, itll be a version of the DREAM Act that Cantors been floating for a while, but nothing more.

As the campaign ad said,”If you have had a Boehner for 24 years its time to see a doctor.” or something along those lines.
Ah, deja vu all over again. The “conservatives” got control of the house then back tracked on everything they promised. Does anyone believe Boner and the “conservative” gop will not pass amnesty once the election is over? Their motto is “Thanks, Tea Party. Now go Eff yourselfs.”
When Boner says things like he’s “hell bent” on passing immigration reform, he’s saying “Give us control of both houses and we’ll pass amnesty”. I don’t trust any of them. Why should I?
It’s telling that Costa used to work for National Review and now has shifted over to the Washington Post.
The words “trust” and “government” have become mutually exclusive.
