It's worth noting that Warren Buffett, a big Obama supported, is the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway -- which owns the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad, one of the largest railroads in the United States.
The decision has already been made. They aren’t going to allow it to be built. This tactic to announce another delay in making the decision is purposeful. It keeps the environmental lobby fired up and spending money on the coming election. It effective freezes billions of dollars waiting to be invested in creating jobs and expanding economic activity. It also keeps the investors funneling millions of dollars to lobbyists and campaign funds of politicians. In addition it hurts relations with Canada.
An administration desiring a vibrant economy would make these decisions quickly knowing that uncertainty is a drag on the economy. After six years of studying the issue the only reason you would continue to delay is if you wanted to hurt the economy or the business interests promoting the investment.
