Anyone contemplating service needs to be aware that they will be regarded as the last American export: cannonfodder ‘for the greater good’. They will be cursorily thanked for their service and booted out the door when their tours are over, and watched with suspicion thereafter *because* of what they were trained for.
They should still join, but they should be aware they are viewed with contempt by the nomenklatura while serving, and viewed with suspicion thereafter.
This is nothing new with the Dems.
During the 2006 elections, Democrat (DFL) Coleen Riley was running against Republican incumbent John Kline (2nd district, Minnesota). The Riley campaign photoshopped a picture of Kline in his USMC dress blues to turn the uniform into a Nazi SS uniform.
There were those in the Riley campaign who publicly said that anyone with a military backgound should not be allowed to participate in the political process. Of course an exception was made for Murtha Forker, who campaigned for Riley.
The NYT is, by most definitions, a hate group.
Had they been successful in pinning the 2010 attempted fertilizer car bomb in NYC on the TEA Party, everyone’s whose name the IRS had gathered as being involved with the TEA Party would have been declared a terrorist and it’s a pretty good bet they would have been rounded up.
