(CNN) Hoping to help close the gap between workers' skills and the needs of businesses, President Barack Obama on Wednesday will announce he's putting hundreds of millions toward job training programs that produce highly skilled workers.
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will head to a community college in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to make the announcement.
The funding will come in two parts: $500 million toward a new job training competition that pairs community colleges with businesses, and $100 million for new apprenticeship programs to train workers.
The White House says the new initiatives are meant to combat a long-standing problem facing the American job market: how to fill job vacancies requiring skills few Americans have.
High-growth sectors like information technology, high-tech services, healthcare and advanced manufacturing all require workers with specific sets of training. Many in those fields say they can't find enough American workers with the required skills, forcing them to find workers overseas.
The President first announced during this year's State of the Union address that he wanted Biden to lead an administration-wide task force to examine how Americans can better train for jobs. Since then the vice president has met with CEOs and business executives and visited job training centers in New York and New Hampshire...

Where is that money coming from?
Another effort from Obama Inc to BUY the vote. Bloomberg is investing 50 million in anti-NRA events,,and yet
the Communist Dems still WHINE (it’s not even a scream anymore) about the Koch Brothers.
I suspect Obama Inc will allow the ILLEGALS to go to the front of the line to receive these job training funds. Just a hunch,,until proven wrong.
If they would stop spending money they do not have jobs would ‘unexpectedly’ increase.
Debt. Or just making it magically appear on the books, ie, the Fed.
Businesses need more customers, not more employees. People need jobs, not training. Obama only knows ACORNonomics.
Absolutely.

Free enterprise needs to be left alone. Let if flourish and grow. Set our people free and let them produce.
Free at last, God Almighty, free at last!
Still more job training programs? From all I’ve seen, they are pits for our tax money...
I was a workers comp case manager until late 2000-and we got calls and brochures from at least 8-10 of those programs, wanting us to send clients for training-and of course, pay them the money the insurance carrier had allotted for the client’s retraining for a return to work.
They were almost all mirror images of each other, funded by taxpayer money to charge outrageously for services, and less than 28% of their grads-including comp clients-got a job in what they trained for-and the fees were not refundable. What a racket...
After about a year, the company owner told us not to waste any comp carrier’s money on them any more, and rely on training programs within the companies where our clients went to work-which were mostly free.
He said the only people making any money from those government funded/sponsored programs were the directors and other employees. Surely someone in DC has learned to spot a scam by now?
Last I heard the country is broke...so you train people for jobs that don’t exist and employers aren’t adding new employees because of Obama-a-ram care. So, why not spend other peoples money. This phony President is doing all he can to destroy what’s left of the greatest country in history. I had a dream, it was a cold wet windy night, I was off in la la land when the door bell rang...who could it be? so I eased out of my easy chair and went to the door to see who it was...There stood a very wet and cold Zero. “Ize needs to come in and get warm..really. I broke out into a loud laugh as I slammed the door.
“Idiots. It’s not lack of skills. It’s lack mof jobs. Lack of business. lack of opportunity.”
So simple a democrat can’t understand it. Maybe it’s a how to class, like how to clean a windshield with a newspaper.
America is being run by global crime syndicates...crony communists vs. NWO neo-cons...two "seemly" opposing sides vying to be the biggest bloodsucker..
...they won't stop until there's nothing left.

What color might they be, it certainly isnt for white people
They an train all they want but but their position will still be couch potatoe!
“What color might they be, it certainly isnt for white people”
Color and ethnicity doesn’t matter, because the “programs” usually operate on a sliding scale-if the individual has sufficient income, he or she pays full price, less income and they pay less, etc. They don’t care what you look like, they only want to see cash, a purchase order or a voucher...
People who are being paid for by workers comp insurance carriers, private company programs, loans, etc are a ready source of cash for these programs, and much faster to pay than the government subsidies. But no matter who pays, these programs are all overpriced, and their success rates are dismal.
Amen!
They actually require specific skill sets like setting the alarm at night and getting up in the morning, paying attention in third grade when math and English are taught, and, oh yes, actually WANTING to get a job enough to work hard, both at training and then on the job.
Young fellow I knew years ago was a teacher for awhile at a “jobs training center.” He couldn’t get the students to relate to getting to class on time; they didn’t even know how to set an alarm clock.
I know, let’s start a multi-billion-dollar school for that.
