In summary, a nation bordering Russia is being chased by the European Union for closer association... a region in that nation is extremely populated by a pro-Russian citizenry and they are seeking independence and closer association with Russia... 'activists' are taking action in the region's capital... the government is deloring the "direct defiance" - how dare people have free will? And a neighboring nation is worried of the consequences...
Ring any bells?
This is almost sounding like the muslim dogma of “If a muslim sets foot on it, it belongs to islam”................
Moscow ... has also announced its right to intervene militarily across the former Soviet Union to protect Russian speakers, a new doctrine that has overturned decades of post-Cold War diplomacy.

This is nothing new. I was in Moldova 6 or 7 years ago and this was an issue then. The Russian minority is really poor and ignored by the Moldovans, and the Rom operate separately and basically view themselves as stateless.
If it turns out that parts of Moldova decide to break away from Moldova and become integrated with Russia (however they decide to do this), then that will put an end to the votes that Catalonia and Scotland had planned.
We just can’t have anything like that - for any of the three!
It’s that integrity thing and all...
