Democrats hope equal pay issue will mobilize women voters

A Democratic blitz this week for new orders and laws promising equal pay for women is a key agenda item the party hopes will boost turnout this fall among its most loyal voters.

President Barack Obama signed two executive actions, which will bar federal contractors from retaliating against employees for comparing salaries and require contractors to report compensation data to the government by gender and race.

A McClatchy analysis in January found that women employees at the White House make 91 cents for every dollar men make.

The female share of the federal workforce also has declined under Obama, while 63 percent of the civilian government workers who earned a salary of $100,000 or more last year were men.

The next play will be out of the single wing followed by the flying wedge.

This is the point where the Left starts to use the point they've poo-poo'd all along that we on the Right have been trying to make: It's comparing apples to oranges (maids and secretaries to chefs and CEO's).

I guess they mean the pay women WOULD receive IF there were any JOBS in the economy obozo and his ongoing criminal enterprise have driven into the sewer?

Then there’s the added “incentive” for women to vote for the
donkeys in 2014 and 16 because of the great new deals they and their families can get under Obamacare?

Sound like two good reasons to me.

With the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution's Clauses 16 & 17 of Section 8 of Article I as examples, entities under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate equal pay issues. Such issues are under the exclusive 10th Amendment control of the states imo.

So what the Democrats need to do with respect to legislating federal equal pay laws is the following. Democrats need to propose an equal pay amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification. And if the states choose to ratify the amendment then Congress will have the constitutional authority that it needs to regulate equal pay and the Democrats will be heroes.

Otherwise, all that corrupt Democratic politicians are doing is the following imo. They are exploiting low-information voters, voters who have never been taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, by making promises based on constitutionally nonexistent federal government powers in order to win their votes.

Democrats are going to ‘pity party’ women again... Odd how Obama doesn’t pay the men and women in the White House the same... says it cause the men have more experience... etc. Guess they won’t be feeding that line to their low info women voters.

when they stop working for periods of time, they aren’t going to be at work, working their way to other promotions.

promotions just aren’t handed out if you’re there or not. it isn’t any big shakes or surprises why most women don’t rise exactly at the same rate as men. plus then factor in that most women don’t do dangerous jobs or very physically demanding jobs that may pay more than some of the job fields they tend to dominate in.

Yes, let’s talk equal pay.

How many women want to dig ditches, use jackhammers, install I-beams on skyscrapers?

How many women get killed on the job compared to men? Shall we put a $dollar value on that?

How about pay at the white house?

Let’s compare.

Every woman in the USA needs to ask the question, “Why has Obama done nothing about correcting this obvious unequal pay status between men & women, during the six years he has been POTUS”??? Answer....he did not care, still does not care!!!

Any woman that believes the serial lie teller, Obama, is either high on weed or just simply, insane!!!

Group,

Don’t fall into the trap an accept that women don’t make as much as men. It’s a bunch of B.S. Women who have the same education, back-ground, and experience do make as much as men. Period. The problem, if you want to call it a problem (which I don’t) is that women typically choose different work then men.

For example, most people who work in the oil industry, or on the dock, in the mechanic industry, in the construction industry, or in other heavy equipment industry are men. I said most...not all. Heck, even most truck drivers are men and that’s a pretty good job a women could certainly do (and many women do do it). These blue collar jobs often lead to management and other senior postions that women can’t get bc they don’t even take the first step (for the most part—obviously some women get involved in this stuff).

By the way, there are some industries where women get paid more than men. Modeling is one of them. Women get paid more as nurses (bc more women have risen into senoir positions due to sheer numbers). 70% of veterinarians are women. Female secretaries make more than male secretaries. Do we need a government program for this, too?

I also like to point out that most people who have graduated from college since 2000 are women. It’s almost 50/500 but, the women are leading. Times are changing and it has nothing to do with Obama. Things happen as they happen.

The point is, we are all products of the choices we make in life. It’s not right or wrong. It’s just the way it is....and I haven’t even talked about the choices women make (vs men) when it comes to child rearing. One more final thought, life-long salaries are most directly correlated to a persons initial salary on day 1. I’ve spoken with a couple of HR people who say women are more likely to accept less money than a man of equal ability. A man will hold his nose up at a 40k starting salary where a women would take it. Who knows why that is, but it is.

Simply put: Not everything is ‘the man keeping the people down.’ In fact, it’s never that way. It’s simply a complex society of every day individuals making choices and value judgements that best suit their needs and their life choices. Government couldn’t save us from ourselves even if they wanted to....and trust me, Government does not want to save us. It just wants power.
