5000 legal students in Florida to lose their tuition to illegals

My friend and fellow retired Army officer, Dr. Rich Swier, has posted some  interesting factoids about enabling the dreams of illegals over the aspirations  and dreams of Americans.

Swier writes, “In a report released by  Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) the impact of providing  College Tuition Subsidy for Illegal Aliens (HB851/SB1400, a.k.a. in-state  tuition) will be that approximately 5,000 legal students will be displaced in  Florida higher level institutions by illegal alien students.  These legislators  are unwilling to raise taxes for the additional illegal alien students by  expanding capacity so legal students will consequently be displaced.” This means  a lot to me because I have one daughter in college in Florida and another who  will graduate high school in 2015. What of their dreams?

While the number of displaced legal students and fiscal cost vary slightly  between HB851 and SB1400 the estimates are similar:

- HB851 will displace of 5,026 legal students. - SB1400 will displace  5,175 legal students. - The fiscal cost of HB851 is estimated at $21.7  million. - The fiscal cost of SB1400 is estimated at $22.7  million.

Here's a novel idea - You and your kids pay for their own freaking college.

That’s how things are going. The honest, hard-working people are treated like $h!t, while the selfish grabbers are given everything they want, free, compliments of the normal people.

Maybe they live out of state.

I have a kid at Texas A&M and I think it’s ridiculous that we have to pay out of state tuition even though we are legal but illegals in Texas get n state tuition.

I’ll oppose Jeb Bush implacably, for his stupid, criminal supporting stand on illegal criminal aliens.

Another reason to let Jeb retire permanently is Terry Schiavo.

I think it has to do with the number of slots allotted for students. If the illegals take up 5,000 slots, that is 5,000 others that will not get in. The legislature did not allocate money to expand the schools to allow for extra students.

This is in-state tuition that is being expanded to include illegals. Has nothing to do with not paying for your own kids' college education.

um.

most people still are paying for college with tuition scholaraships and grants.

you miss the larger point being made, and that is government allocates money for tuition help, that will go on until it’s repealed. but its american taxpayer money, and it should go to american students to help them, as opposed to giving it away to illegals here. if we are going to have stusent aid, it should go to american students, not be taken away from american students to be deliberately given to illegals.

that’s the point. arguing about the concept of student aid is another issue. butmright now as long as we’re doing it we should’at’least not take it away from our own american kids and give it to illegals.

MEMO TO JEB BUSH:  Instead of getting that degree in Latin American affairs, might have been wise to get a degree in AMERICAN HISTORY!  Since you’re obviously so fond of Latin America, perhaps there’s an office waiting for you down there? Oh wait, THEY have very rigid RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS down there.
never mind

WASHINGTON ON IMMIGRATION
“The policy or advantage of immigration taking place in a body (I mean the settling of them in a body) may be much questioned; for, by so doing, they retain the language, habits, and principles (good or bad) which they bring with them.  Whereas by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures, laws; in a word, soon become one people.” George Washington in a letter to John Adams

JEFFERSON ON IMMIGRATION
“Every species of government has its specific principles. Ours perhaps are more peculiar than those of any other in the universe. It is a composition of the freest principles of the English constitution, with others derived from natural right and natural reason. To these nothing can be more opposed than the maxims of absolute monarchies. Yet, from such, we are to expect the greatest number of emigrants. They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, imbibed in their early youth; or, if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing, as is usual, from one extreme to another. It would be a miracle were they to stop precisely at the point of temperate liberty. These principles, with their language, they will transmit to their children. In proportion to their numbers, they will share with us the legislation. They will infuse into it their spirit, warp and bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass.” That xenophobic radical, Thomas Jefferson

Mr. Jefferson’s concerns go right to the heart of the questions of uncontrolled immigration and, in Obozo’s case,  natural born citizenship, don’t they?
