If you’d left out the grains, I’d have agreed with you. But grains (even “healthy whole grains”) are pretty much empty calories.
I try to stay low carb, and when I do fall off the wagon I just feel like crap afterwards. Foods with natural sugars (fresh fruits and veg, whole milk unflavored Greek yogurt, etc.) don’t bother me. Neither does dark chocolate nor wine. Grains are a different story though. With this economy, I find myself cooking pasta way too often.
But “grains”. properly prepared, just taste so dang GOOD!
Rice & gravy, corn on the cob, cheese Danish, chicken & dumplings (rolled, of course), cornbread ‘n collards, dinner rolls, blackberry cobbler.`
Life would be so much the less without these little gifts from God.
Some are good for scrubbing out your inner tubing. Other than that, too much can be quite destructive, particularly since the food industry has been tinkering with grains to make them even more concentrated. I eat steel-cut oatmeal a couple of times a week, maybe some whole rice a couple of times a month, and try to avoid other grain foods wherever possible.
