Yee, D-San Francisco, highlights a string of multiple arrests that also includes infamous Chinatown gangster Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, connected to a variety of charges including racketeering and drug crimes, sources said. Yee’s exact connection to Chow, if any, was not immediately drawn.

One of the searches was at the San Francisco Chinatown office of the Gee King Tong Free Masons and is linked to Chow’s arrest.

Federal law enforcement officials have been chasing Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow for decades, branding him one of the longtime Bay Area leaders of a Hong Kong-based criminal syndicate called the Wo Hop To. Chow’s criminal rap sheet dates back to 1978, and includes multiple federal racketeering indictments that have included allegations of attempted murder, murder-for-hire, gun trafficking and other crimes.

Dan Lieberman, Yee’s press secretary, told The Times his office would not comment on the FBI raids, which were reportedly linked to the arrest Wednesday morning of Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow.

Representatives for the U.S. attorney’s office could not immediately be reached.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr described the raids to KCBS as “massive.”

“Hundreds of officers are involved in this,” he said.

KGO-TV in San Francisco reported Yee was arrested.

Among the locations being searched by authorities Wednesday was the Ghee Kung Tong Supreme Lodge belonging to the Chinese Freemasons on Spofford Street in San Francisco’s Chinatown, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. An FBI evidence response team also searched a building in the 1700 block of Hyde Street.

Raymond ”Shrimp Boy” Chow, birth name is Kwok Cheung

Raymond Chow grandmother gave him the nickname Shrimp Boy due to his small size.

Peter Chong was sent from Hong Kong to the United States by the Wo Hop To Triad to dominate all the underworld Asian Chinatown gangs, starting with San Francisco, Ca. Peter Chong needed muscle so he recruited Raymond Chow making him the 2nd highest ranking in the USA Wo Hop Toe division. After the murder of Danny Wong in 1991, the remaining members of the Wah Ching was forced out the Bay Area and fled to Los Angeles, CA. The Wo Hop To took control over all criminal activity in SF Chinatown. Peter Chong and Raymond Chow had plans to form an umbrella organization called Tien HaWui (“Whole Earth Association”).

Raymond Chow recently completed his unpublished memoirs and presently speaking with several Hollywood producers and publishers regarding his upcoming publication and motion picture projects.

Raymond Chow, who acquaintances call Shrimp Boy, says he confronted Mr. Hsu in 1990 on behalf of friends who had invested in the glove business. Mr. Chow -- who stands 5-foot-4, is heavily muscled, and has a dragon tattoo on his torso -- says that at that time he was an enforcer for the Hop Sing Tong, an association that prosecutors have said was involved in crimes ranging from prostitution to heroin trafficking.

Less than six months on the job, the mayor of Charlotte was arrested and accused Wednesday of accepting more than $48,000 in bribes from FBI agents posing as real estate developers who wanted to do business with North Carolina’s largest city.

Mayor Patrick Cannon, a 47-year-old Democrat, faces theft and bribery charges, U.S. Attorney Anne Tompkins said. Cannon was accused of soliciting and accepting more than $48,000 in cash, airline tickets, a hotel room and the use of a luxury apartment as bribes.

If convicted on all the charges, he faces 20 years in prison and more than $1 million in fines.

Cannon, a radio host and the owner of a parking management company, was elected mayor in November, replacing Anthony Foxx, who was named Transportation Secretary by President Barack Obama.

Cannon was also accused of accepting $12,500 from an undercover agent to help him develop a feminine hygiene product called “Hers” to be marketed and sold in the United States. In exchange, Cannon offered to help the undercover agent — posing as a business manager for a venture capital company — get the necessary permits to open a nightclub.

During the meeting, an undercover agent told Cannon: “You know, again whatever you can do to get our application moved up towards the top, uh, business license and things like that, that we need.”

According to the complaint, Cannon responded: “Yeah, not a problem.”

Cannon later had a discussion with the undercover agent, apparently attempting to clarify to the mayor that the money was strictly seed money for the “Hers” product and not payment for his help in opening the nightclub. Cannon ended the conversation by saying he looked good “in an orange necktie, but not an orange suit,” according to the complaint.

When the agent set up two later meetings to discuss the money and give Cannon an opportunity to return it, Cannon failed to show up, the complaint said.

Glaringly missing from this piece was any mention of Yee’s political affiliation. Guess from the the charges, one must assume DEMoCRAT.

Good guess. [You must be psychotic psychic.] :=) You won't find any mention of a political party until about 13 paragraphs into the article. Even then, it doesn't specifically state that Yee himself is a democrat.

From the article:

Democratic officials expressed shock at the development. California Democratic Party chair John Burton said he was completely unaware of the law enforcement move, and knew nothing about it.

No mention of the crooked mayor Patrick Cannon being a Democrat in that article either.
