Education is inherently local & immediate. It involves the interaction of the individual student with a teacher or with another source. It can be self-directed, of course; but to the extent it is standardized by a bureaucracy, it is self-defeating. The essence of real education must be directed towards the unique personality of the student.
The fallacy, reflected here, in the arrogance of Mr. Bush & Mrs. Clinton, flows directly from the fantasy world of the egalitarian/collectivist; the compulsion to believe that all people have the same educational needs; the same educational potential.
William Flax
This has nothing to do with the needs and potential of the “educated” rather it has everything to do with preserving the power and privilege of those who provide the “education.”
