Harry Reid mulls dropping IMF from bill (Reid caves to Cruz)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is considering dropping a provision to reform the International Monetary Fund from a bill to help Ukraine — a move that could clear the way to send an aid package to the president’s desk.

Republicans have balked at President Barack Obama’s call to include the language, vowing to reject the provisions in the House.

The tussle in Congress over reforming the IMF has threatened the unified message officials in Washington had hoped to send to Russian President Vladimir Putin and those responsible for the invasion of Ukraine.

A final decision on the IMF provision could be announced as soon as Tuesday afternoon — but some Republicans said the deal is already done and the bill could be voted on later Tuesday, provided the Senate can agree on a voting schedule.

“He’s going to take it out,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) of Reid. “That’s what he told me. He doesn’t usually lie to me. Sometimes he does, but not always.”

Thanks to Ted Cruz for drawing attention to this scheme! And FU to Mitch McConnell for undermining Cruz!

These people are always trying to give more power to international organizations and bodies, on our dime of course!

Hmmm.... I wonder why dingy allowed this to happen.

Could it perhaps have been to cause heartburn for Mitch?

What unified message?

Or, this could be the answer:

“If Senate Democrats drop the provisions, Republicans in return would give up their demand that Congress vote to delay the administration’s changes to rules cracking down on the political activity of non-profits”

McConnell, by allowing cloture, thus allowed this quid pro quo. It’s all sickening.

That certainly reassures me. Time for your medication John.

How about some money to put troops on OUR southern border and get invaders out of the US?

Let Ukraine sort it out. The world might be better off if it's split up with the west being in Germany or Poland's sphere and the east with Russia.

Ukraine is a failed nation and the western part needs babysitters to keep Nazis and other crazies in line, from what we've seen.

Recent administrations shoved gobs of money to the “Palestinians” and several terrorist nations through the IMF. Whatever keeps the global debt and trade game going with no regards for doing what is right.
