They left after Venezuelan secret police raided a Jewish club in 2007, and after the local synagogue was ransacked by unidentified thugs two years later.
They left after President Hugo Chavez expelled Israel's ambassador to Caracas, and when he called on Venezuela's Jews to condemn Israel for its actions in Gaza in 2009.
They left when Caracas claimed the ignoble title of most dangerous city in the world, and when inflation hit double digits, food shortages took hold and the country's murder rate reached 79 per 100,000 people.
With Venezuela now roiled by anti-government demonstrations-the death toll reached 18 last Saturday-Venezuelan Jews who remain have yet another reason to leave their country: growing despair.
"There's less hope about the future," said Andres Beker, a Venezuelan Jewish expatriate in the United States whose parents still live in Caracas. "My parents are huge fans of Venezuela. Until last year I thought they would stay no matter what. Now, for the first time, they're talking about Plan B: leaving Venezuela."
Over the last 15 years, from the time Chavez came to power and in the year since Nicolas Maduro has ruled the country, the Venezuelan Jewish community has shrunk by more than half. It is now estimated at about 7,000, down from a high of 25,000 in the 1990s. Many of those who left were community leaders.

It would have been time to go as soon as Chevez came to power; and not just for Jews!
Man. Always, always the Jews. It’ll never stop. Heartbreaking.
It’s really gonna suck to be a Venezuelan official one of these days...........................
This is interesting. Jews have fled a lot of countries over the centuries, so this is nothing new, but it makes me wonder if America’s ultimate destruction will come win Christians and decent folk finally get fed up and disperse.
Myself, it would be incredibly hard to pick up, leave the country, and find work that affords me a similar quality of life. However, It wouldn’t be hard for the Koch Brothers, who are attacked by the leader of the United States Senate for their hard work, employing thousands, philanthropy, and providing services. They also have over half of their money large portions of their employees money stolen by a failing government to fund stupid programs while being told over and over again by that same government that they’re the problem. If they don’t plan to leave, I reckon they’re making arrangements for their children and grandchildren.
My point is, when the producers leave, this country will fold pretty quickly.
Vote for socialism and then when it takes a firm hold leave the country. What are the Jews going to do when socialism takes over Israel?
I hate to break this to you but, Israel is very much a socialist country. It's founders were extreme leftists. Golda Meir sounded a great deal like Hillary Clinton when she was a young woman.
Socialized medicine, managed economy, regulations on everything. The old joke is:
"How do you make a small fortune? -Take a large fortune to Israel.
I Believe Maduro will make attempt to annex the Dutch
islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curaoco
The islands lie only few miles off coast of Venezuela
and with our Fearless Leader showing how will do nothing
to stop thugs time is ripe for more chaos
>>I hate to break this to you but, Israel is very much a socialist country. It’s founders were extreme leftists.<<
I know and when it slips toward communism, which happens to socialist countries, the people will continue whining.
The old joke is the truth, what’s funny about that?
"Whatcha gonna do when they come for you --" (Marley)
Paraphrasing:
Where ya gonna go when they come for you?
I think we’re pretty close to the point where almost any civilized country can’t be worse than this one. New Zealand has a nanny state with cradle to grave government intervention, but I’m not sure the youts play the knock-out game there.
I have a friend who has bought a 10-acre farm in south temperate zone of Chili, a beautiful place. In Chili and Ecuador their social placement, religion, and music is about where the US was in the 1950s. The Bushes and other rich people apparently have bought land in southern Chili.
As Reagan said, If America fails there will be no place left to go.
Small point: The country is Chile. The vegetable is chili.
Bigger point: What is your info source for the Bushes buying land in the much cooler part of Chile?
Yes, you are right on the chilly business—I don’t know what got into my mind. My source re the Bushes is from my friend, who has been there twice, now; and I will ask him for more clarifying info. He’s pretty reliable.
My source re the Bushes is from my friend, who has been there twice, now; and I will ask him for more clarifying info. It seems pretty sure that the Bush family has other properties in South America:

But here's an interesting article on Chile:

Did it ever occur to you that we should fight for our own country? If you want to abandon America and run off to Israel, I hope that you won’t wait too long before you realize that America is not going to fight for Israel if we are under threat ourselves.
Never forget!
