This is Oklahoma, not California. There's not supposed to be earthquakes out here. And we're far away from the New Madrid Seismic Zone - so don't bother mentioning that one.

There's been quote a large uptick in earthquakes in Oklahoma over the last decade.

Are you familiar with the buried mountain range that runs pretty much underneath Interstate 35 down to the Arbuckles?

Not really ... is it starting to poke through? If so, why is it all happening just in the last few years?

It is a series of faults that run from north to south across the state. They are the cause of the earthquakes.

Those earthquakes are pretty far apart for a localized cause.

See the map on post 8. It is a series of faults from an ancient mountain range. Even though the mountains have long been eroded away, the faults can still move when Dick Chaney and Halliburton start fracing.

That is correct. I assume that the New Madrid Earthquake had little warning. Of course, not many people were living around there then.
