What this article is saying is that O’bummer hasn’t grown up yet.
When a “president” has the time to watch so much college basketball that he knows a lot about every team, he’s definitely not doing anything else.
Yesterday I heard an Israeli official declare that, "Israel is Americas best ally." It started me thinking.
The US is in the enviable position of having most every other democracy desire to America's BFF or "best ally". Israel certainly is America's best ally in the Eastern Mediterranean. The UK, Canada, and Australia all want to be considered America's "best ally". Japan and South Korea vie to be America's "best ally" in their region. Dozens of other countries, like India, Poland, Georgia, Jordan, and the Ukraine want to be considered allies in their region.
America is like the beautiful girl that everybody wants to take to the prom. And what is Obama's policy towards America's allies? Do I really have to enumerate Obama's distainful policy towards Israel? The UK? Japan is locked in a territorial dispute over the Senkaku Islands with the very nation that the first lady is now ostentatiously visiting. Take that Japan.
Rather than listing all the ways Obama is pushing America's allies away, let me focus on two pending infrastructure projects involving the country that probably is America's "best friend forever" out of necessity, common background, and geography.
There are two large projects pending that, when completed, will bring immeasurable benefit to the USA. The Keystone pipeline is being paid for entirely by a public Canadian company. Not a dime of taxpayer money is involved. This project was stalled during Obama's first term, apparently for political reasons. Now that he has been re-elected and the political reasons are gone, it is still being delayed.
The other project is a new six lane suspension bridge over the Detroit River. Lesser known than Keystone, this project is probably even more important economically to the US as it will ease the movement of people and goods over a vital trade corridor. One that is now very vulnerable. Canada is prepared to build the bridge, and to lend the money needed to build the US portion. The project, on the US side, is being stalled because the US seemingly doesn't have the money to build a customs plaza and freeway connections.
These projects mean real jobs, more trade, more tax money, 650,000 B/D of uninterruptible oil and a chance to open up some oil production from shut in fields in North Dakota.
In the 20th century, these projects would have been finished by now, probably with US investment. In Obama's America these projects sit on some desk in Washington, gathering dust. This is how Obama treats America's best ally and trading and defense partner. When he gets done, the US will be lucky to have any allies left.
