U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), sponsor of the federal "assault weapon" and "large" magazine "ban" of 1994-2004, is asking President Barack Obama to direct the BATFE to reinterpret a provision of the Gun Control Act of 1968 to prohibit the importation of various semi-automatic firearms and their parts.
In a letter to Obama, the text of which was included in an article published by the Daily Caller on Thursday, Feinstein said that, "at a minimum," the BATFE should:
prohibit importation of all semiautomatic rifles that can accept, or be readily converted to accept, a large capacity ammunition magazine of more than 10 rounds . . . . prohibit semiautomatic rifles with fixed magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds, prohibit the importation of the frame or receiver of any prohibited rifle . . . . prohibit the practice of importing assault rifles in parts …. prohibit the use of a "thumbhole" stock . . . . and prohibit the importation of assault pistols.
Though Feinstein failed to gain approval of legislation she introduced in Congress last year, which would have imposed the biggest gun ban in American history, she has reason to believe that she could achieve some of her ends through the president's use of his executive authority. In the 1990s, Feinstein urged then-President Bill Clinton to direct the then-BATF to restrict the importation of semi-automatic rifles, and Clinton agreed. With the White House saying "we're taking the law and bending it as far as we can to capture a whole new class of guns," the BATF prohibited the importation of semi-automatic rifles capable of using standard magazines holding over 10 rounds.

Dems at best may hold the Senate or lose and have 49 seats in 2014. If Obama did an EO to ban more rifles, guarantee the Dems WILL LOSE the Senate in 2014 by a larger margin and maybe more seats in the House then currently projected. Obama is trying to use populism (income gap, minimum wage) to make up the Dem gaps, Dems want gun control but they also understand political tactics (something Sen Cruz can learn if he wants to be an effective Senator). IMHO Obama will refrain from such EO till after the 2014 elections. Then he will do it, and hope the Dem strategy in 2016 of electing the first woman as president will be used to cover all extreme leftist policies and hope women voters will be hysterical like the black voters of 2008 and 2012 (many moderate black GOP voters voted for Obama).
this woman is a serious danger to the Republic and should be removed from office at the earliest possible moment along with her counterpart boxer.
It seems like all CA elected officials are a serious threat to the Republic.

The "thumbhole" monstrosity was a way to get past
the "pistol grip" rifle prohibition of the original
"assault" weapons ban. Freakin' UGLY. I had an MAK set up
with one. Didn't much care for it, it was a bit awkward.
Fixed it with a saw, some sandpaper and some varnish.
Couldn’t such a ban on imported semi-auto rifles be bypassed by foreign manufacturers granting licensing rights to American companies and making profit from the royalties/licenses. Wasn’t that a similar case with the Walther PPK, which is made under license by Smith and Wesson?
We seriously need a minimum IQ or intelligence test required to serve in government. And passing some sort of civics/basic government test. These people are killing us...

27 CFR 478.39 - ASSEMBLY OF NON-SPORTING SHOTGUNS AND SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLES FROM IMPORTED PARTS
(a) No person shall assemble a semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun using more than 10 of the imported parts listed in paragraph (c) of this section if the assembled firearm is prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to:
(1) The assembly of such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or
(2) The assembly of such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Director under the provisions of Sec. 178.151; or
(3) The repair of any rifle or shotgun which had been imported into or assembled in the United States prior to November 30, 1990, or the replacement of any part of such firearm.
(c) For purposes of this section, the term imported parts are:
(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings
(2) Barrels
(3) Barrel extensions
(4) Mounting blocks (trunions)
(5) Muzzle attachments
(6) Bolts
(7) Bolt carriers
(8) Operating rods
(9) Gas pistons

Feinstein released a statement on Democrat State Senator Leland Yee's arrest for arms trafficking: “The allegations against Senator Yee are shocking. It has become clear he has lost the confidence of his colleagues and for the good of his constituents should step down.”
Di's shocked? More like sap-happy Di/Fi's doing a quick CYA before all the dirt comes out.
