NYC Gay Pride Parade Welcomes Catholic League & 'Straight Is Great' Sign
Gothamist ^ | 03/20/2013

Yesterday, Catholic League president Bill Donohue was complaining about Guinness pulling its support from the St. Patrick's Day Parade, because organizers don't allow gay groups to march with signs in the annual event. Then he said he wanted to march in the NYC Pride parade, with a banner that says, "Straight is Great." Well, as it happens, the gay pride parade's organizers are totally cool with that!

In a statement issued this morning, David Studinski, the March Director of NYC Pride, proclaimed, "Mr. Donohue and his group are free to participate in the 2014 March. His group’s presence affirms the need for this year’s Pride theme, ‘We Have Won When We’re One.’ Straight is great - as long as there’s no hate." NYC Parade Managing Director Chris Frederick also said, "Straight allies are great. We have thousands of straight people participating in the Pride March, including Catholic groups, who support LGBT youth, families and married couples."

so you can march as long as you don’t tell the truth about homosexuality.

b/c anything critical of it is regarded automatically as “hate”. even just factual statements about it are considered hate.

Well good for them. I wonder, though, if something is planned to discredit the "Straight is great" sign-holders.

Still, this cannot be compared to the St. Pat's parade which was about St. Patrick and NOT about anything else (until the homos stepped in with wanting to turn it into a homo pride parade).

It would be demeaning and wrong for any decent Catholic to participate in that parade. Sometimes Donohue talks a bit too much.

This would be a very bad PR move for the Catholics. They'll lose more than they'll gain. For every one gay pride parade that the Catholics want to be in, there will be a hundred other parades that the queers will want to be in. And now, they'll have the mantra of “we let the Catholics in our parade, they should let us in theirs”. The church should NOT accept their ‘kind offer’. When good and evil ‘compromise’, evil gains and good loses.

Is he (Donohue) limited as to how many people he can bring? Like if he happened to show up with, say, 10,000 marchers, would they still be cool with it?

Agreed that Catholics should definitely not march, but I think Donohue messed up. He was making demands yesterday that he be allowed in the parade - and he even specified what he wanted his sign to say. Now that the gays have said that’s fine with them, he’s kind of stuck. He’s going to look bad if he backs out and bad if he marches. Sigh.

If they really thought like this then I would be fine with gay people. They could sodimize and do the disgusting things they do all they want to behind closed doors. In the end they would only have God to answer to for their deviant behavior.

BUT THEY DON’T KEEP IT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Its not private, personal business in the privacy of their homes.
Its on GRAND DISPLAY. Its hoist up in my TV all the time. Its taught to elementary school kids.
I don’t want to hear about anyone’s sex life. I don’t want to hear about a hetrosexual couples sex lives. I DON’T CARE. The only sex life I want in my face is mine and my wife’s and my minor children’s (or hopefully lack thereof).

If gays kept their PERSONAL BUSINESS to themselves, do what they do at home behind closed doors... all this so-called “hate” from so-called “homophobes” would go away instantly.

Of course they are, they’ve already won the public relations battle.

The only thing that would get a person banned probably would be to actually trying witnessing with the actual Gospel to gays at the parade, If gays saw a few of their fellows actually respond to the Gospel (in Love, not in human condemnation toward them), and if a few were actually drawn by the preaching of the word, by the Holy Spirit, then that would no doubt provoke a negative reaction by some, but for others it would lead to salvation!!

He’s not going to back down. Why would he do that?

Gay activist groups can’t march as such in the St Pat’s parade per USSC ruling.

Donahue was invited to this one.

He’s going. Why wouldn’t he? He’s not acting as an organizer and isn’t an organizer of the St. Pat’s Parade.

He is not afraid to march in the Gay Parade. As chief of the Cath League, he puts up with more persecution in this culture, in NYC than people expect him to.

They don’t want him there, They called a bluff but they, no, they’ll back out, and if they don’t, he’ll march. it’s not about hatred.

Gay activist groups can’t march as such in the St Pat’s parade per USSC ruling.

The Supreme Court didn't explicitly disallow gay groups from marching in the St. Patrick's day parade, but instead ruled that private organizers of any parade are free to include or exclude groups as they see fit. The St. Patrick's parade organizers could change their mind an include gays, but they don't have to if they don't want to (and they never should). In the same way, the "pride" organizers are free to decide whether or not they want the Catholic League in their parade.

And, like I said above, I think it would be a shame for Donohue or any other Catholic to march in this celebration of abomination.

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." 2 Corinthians 6:17

Why would good moral people march anywhere with perverts? I can assure you that the homofacist would use this against the Church at some point...

He dangled the bait, and they bit. He needs to not rest.

Now, he needs to demand to be able to march with more.

Demand to march with banners displaying Leviticus 18 and Romans 1 scripture.

Then, photos of emaciated bodies that are suffering due to AIDS--and with statistics showing the level of abuse and pedophilia convictions among homosexuals.

Next, demand that homosexuals who have been FREED by God from their sin be made Grand Marshall of the parade and be allowed to speak.

Keep doing what the left does--don't demand mere TOLERANCE, demand CELEBRATION and ENDORSEMENT of your position.

Christians do not lean on the crowd.

They lean on the Lord.

Who cares if ex-gays never get a ticker tape parade on earth. They’ll get it in heaven!
