Malaysia denies reported sighting of MH370 in Maldives (South Maldives stand by story of sighting)
Haveeru Online (Southern Maldives) ^ | Mar 19, 2014 | Farah Ahmed

Malaysia on Wednesday dismissed reports of a possible sighting of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 by islanders in the Maldives.

The Malaysian acting transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters in Kuala Lumpur that the authorities in the Maldives have told Malaysia the reports are "not true".

"I can confirm that the Malaysian Chief of the Defence Force has contacted his counterpart in the Maldives, who has confirmed that these reports are not true," Hishammuddin said.

Whilst the disappearance of the Boeing 777 jet, carrying 239 passengers has left the whole world in bewilderment, several residents of Kuda Huvadhoo told Haveeru on Tuesday that they saw a "low flying jumbo jet" at around 6:15am on March 8.

They said that it was a white aircraft, with red stripes across it – which is what the Malaysia Airlines flights typically look like.

Eyewitnesses from the Kuda Huvadhoo concurred that the aeroplane was travelling North to South-East, towards the Southern tip of the Maldives – Addu. They also noted the incredibly loud noise that the flight made when it flew over the island.

A local aviation expert told Haveeru that it is "likely" for MH370 to have flown over the Maldives. The possibility of any aircraft flying over the island at the reported time is extremely low, the expert added.

The Maldives police have also launched an investigation into the reported sighting of the aircraft.

The Malaysia airlines jet disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing. Investigators say it was deliberately diverted off course.

Twenty-six countries are now helping to hunt for the plane after satellite and military radar data projected two huge corridors through which it might have flown.

Satellite data suggests that the last "ping" was received by a satellite somewhere close to the Maldives and the US naval base on Diego Garcia.

But the Maldives is not amongst the countries that Malaysian authorities had sought help from in its search for the missing jet. Malaysia has listed the countries that it had appealed for assistance: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and France.

I was curious if there was a follow on report from the original news source of the Maldives reporting.

I found this, and despite the disavowal from officials, the journalists are reconfirming the sighting reports by locals, the very low overflight and the North-to-South-South-East heading.

South of there is one more atoll, Addu (google Gan airport), and little else is in that direction except Diego Garcia very much further away.

It could be nothing, but it's something to talk about if the West Australia debris sighting doesn't pan out.

I recall reports from the last year of Chicom mules carrying 2-3kg of bullion gold each from Singapore to puppetmasters in Mainland China. 20-30 people would board a commercial flight, hop to Singapore and back in the same day.

I wonder if mules operateed from Malaysia also.

If MH370 carried gold, this gold could have been used to pay for the clandestine strip to land somewhere.

From major airports like JFK....there’s probably daily flights with diamonds, gold, silver or such.....and if some nut got wind of a flight with a hundred million onboard....I could see a scenario where he kills the passengers....ditches the plane, and has some friend pick him up six days later.

For a haul that large, would it even go on a regularly scheduled passenger flight? A charter flight sounds like it makes more sense.

WHAT IF… the missing airliner is an upscale nuclear 911? Iran may have nukes, but they have no delivery system. Solution? Steal a Boeing 777 and use it as an intercontinental bomber. For years Ahmadinejad has cried out that he is going to obtain nukes and destroy Israel. Why doesn’t he keep quiet about his plans? Because these are not his plans, this is a diversion. The West says, “Oh, let him get his bombs, he’ll just take out Israel; we can live with that.” That’s why he shouts this plan so often and so loud. To destroy Israel will not give them the world, but to destroy the West, then they will have something.
So we may see that missing airliner again, and if it we do, it may be the last thing we see.

JFK is well known for its criminal activity. Internal and external. Security there can be extremely tight in some ways but in others it can be strangely lax. Not sure to what degree airport personnel or flight crews know just exactly what they’re carrying other than hazardous cargo which must be declared and handled accordingly. Now, 40 years ago, the mob was able to figure things out and take advantage but I don’t know what their chances would be today.

Hussein lies? I think Malaysian (Muslim) government knows a lot more and are working very hard to distract and to create diversions.

I think the Maldives sighting was correct.

>>>>>>I think the Maldives sighting was correct.<<<<<

And their authorities say there are no scheduled flights at that time of the night.

I wonder if any of the aviation aficionados could help me understand how B777 use fuel. Let's say E1 is the most economical use of fuel, cruise altitude, cruise speed.

If pilot want to go below RADAR, fuel consumption will go up. What is the best option, what altitude (e.g. 1000 ft), what speed? How it relates to what eyewitnesses saw/heard in Maldives?

Well that does it -- bid adieu to the satellite engine ping data from Inmarsat and everyone head for Addu.

And while we are there let's find out why EVERYONE in the Maldives are not eyewitnesses as I'm sure those big jumbos don't fly low over the island every day.

The Maldives police have also launched an investigation into the reported sighting of the aircraft.

What else do the police there have to do. This should boost the tourist industry -- looky loos looking for the lost 777 graveyard in the outer islands. They're geniuses --

(March 25) Airline refused to disclose the plane’s cargo manifest and now Maldives finds a possible bomb on beach http://www.maldivesfinest.com/bomb-on-beach

Probably a hoax, but wanted it here just in case.
