O-Care premiums to skyrocket (according to non-partisan publication)

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration.

The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015.

The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but grow more slowly than in the past.

“The increases are far less significant than what they were prior to the Affordable Care Act,” the secretary said in testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee.

Her comment baffled insurance officials, who said it runs counter to the industry’s consensus about next year.

“It’s pretty shortsighted because I think everybody knows that the way the exchange has rolled out … is going to lead to higher costs,” said one senior insurance executive who requested anonymity.

The insurance official, who hails from a populous swing state, said his company expects to triple its rates next year on the ObamaCare exchange.

This is an outrage. I hope the increases fall most heavily on Obama supporters and it results in the worst electoral defeat in the history of the Democrat Party.

Lies from the administration still baffle people?

This garbage is why I signed up with Samaritan Ministries International two years ago. My wife and I began seeing the price go up with BC/BS in anticipation of this and we jumped off that train wreck. We’re very happy now.

Gawd, these people have NO shame, and if I may go on: no honesty, integrity (right thing to do when no one is looking), self-accountability, work ethic, moral compass, et al. This is why I have come to distrust ALL politicians from the local school board or city council to the White House.

There has never been a more truism in the quote, "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely". There is only one solution -term limits at all levels of government.

Veterans for Constitutional Restoration (VetsCor) was a huge proponent of such. Too bad we couldn't have grown, but could never get the Veterans interested (figured they did their part and they did) nor the seed money. Our mandate was much like you hear from Sarah Palin, Allen West, Thomas Sowell, Ted Cruz and other strict Constitutionalists.

If you give Nixon one iota of credit is that he resigned for covering up a simple break-in to his opposing party. Always admired him for doing so. When you're wrong, you man up and face the consequences. That is a foreign concept to Obambi and so many other politicians now. Integrity is a dying value, but I still hold on to mine.

Does that include the $2500 savings we were all suppose to enjoy?

"My thoughts exactly!"

As I said on a number of threads, SCREW IT, I'm going to enjoy my 58 Impala until it runs into the ground as will this Nation. There is no going back. The entire world is looking for a handout and equal outcome rather than equal opportunity.

We tried for a moment with VetsCoR, but didn't work. At least you and I can tell our Grand-children we DID try, if they're even interested. I believe there will be a new norm of a socialist America and even our Grand-children will expect some sort of handout.

Take care and relish in the fact that we experienced the best a society could be. Gotta love the Supremes, or if older the best crooner ever, Dean Martin!

I like your attitude.

I also agree with you that some of us were so lucky as to experience America when it was the greatest nation on Earth.

The music, particularly that of the 50s and 60s, was also great to listen to. I had the distinct pleasure (and outright luck) to be able to have a job spinning records for radio stations during the 60s, and believe me, the Supremes, among others, sounded fantastic on those studio speakers and in the earphones.

Dean Martin was one of my favorites, too.
