History is also being erased in the US. Surely you know that. Our kids have no idea of American history.
So...what is new?
Erasing history...sure signs of Marxism’s return and creating the new Soviet man. Lovely. Oh well, cold war back in progress thanks to the morons in Washington D.C. Where’s Ronald Reagan when you need him?
PING.
Kristalnacht , all over again.
...kind of like, oh, say, stories about Obama’s daughters get erased from the internet?
Kind of like, oh, say, people whose children were killed in Benghazi are ignored by the media?
People who are facing increased premiums, or are being dropped by the insurance companies or denied coverage are kind of like this, no?
You can't burn a Kindle,
Like you can an old tome,
So they're left there on their own,
In the early morning rain.
Very bad move on Putin’s part. This is going wind up being a shooting war. It may play well with the Rusky nationalists but not with the satelites and once the nationalists he’s using to clain he wants to re-capture their “lost territory” figure out it’s all about the money and who is getting it and they ain’t. Putin and Russia will lose big time. Meantime millions killed .
We can’t see exactly what was burned. I see reports that these were not books, but Right Sector (fascist party) leaflets found in the building. No way to verify, however.
Reset button back to the Soviet Union... and The Second World War that Barba Rosa treaty Russians are still fighting.
“...and burned Ukrainian-language books on Sunday.”
I think it is more a case of erasing the Ukrainian language. I watched some long history on youtube and time and again the Ukrainians were striving to write, perform, etc. in their own language. It would grab hold for awhile, and then others (Nazis & Commies) would ban the language.
As that guy says: “language, culture, borders”.
The Russians get it. Liberals don’t.
“History is being erased.”
History is being _repeated_.
And with flair: “The footage then showed young men seizing Ukrainian-language books, including a volume devoted to the 1932-1933 man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine, which killed from 7-10 million people. ‘Do you see what they print here?’ one activist said to another. The activists then took the books into the street and set them alight in small bonfires...”
The EU was suckered into overplaying their hand by the Maidan protestors. Having the Ukraine in NATO is needlessly provocative and ultimately unstable. Will we go to full-fledged war if Putin decides to invade Ukraine? Is there any support for this? So then why were we so supportive? Only because the hotheads on the ground dictated events.
Now it may be Putin's turn to be suckered into intervening further than intended. Crimea is annexed easily enough, but the Eastern Oblasts have no clear geographical boundary. The further west you go, the more ungovernable the populace becomes. Neither war nor a military frontier is in Putin's interest, or in the West's. If Russian hotheads on the ground dictate events, however, Putin may yet take this strategically poor step.
Obama really went out of his way to prevent this ...
...do they still want to join the EU and the West since we’re hanging them out to dry?
Who remembers the “green shoots” of a new diplomacy that were supposed to be shooting up after Hussein was first elected? And the silly editorial cartoons illustrating them?
Well, here they are. All grown up now into the poisonous swamp that liberal policies breed with alarming predictability.
All of of foreign policy diplomats are bone hard liberals with no conception of what will really happen when they project their policies on the World stage, and reality is smacking them right across the face...
Book burnings. How original.
