I couldn't believe it today when Rush said he's not going to get a health insurance policy.

I thought he'd get the cheapest possible Bronze plan, just to avoid hassles with the IRS, and not use it, but continue to pay out-of-pocket for his healthcare.

1% of income is a big penalty for Rush.

Rush is taking a big chance if he's relying on the latest Obamacare change allowing exemption from penalty for "hardship." As I read it, Rush wouldn't qualify. Maybe the rules will change again and explicitly exempt everybody, but if I were Rush, I wouldn't rely on this latest definition of "hardship."

For most people, it's not that big a deal, but if you've got the income Rush does, and the target on your back, it's a different story.

Agreed. But doesn’t the individual exemption/mandate go thru 2016? He’s got until then to get some kind of ‘policy’ to satisfy the penalty requirements. My guess is that he’ll never use it, but continue to pay cash. My hunch is that the whole ACA disaster will collapse by then, into single payer socialism.
