America! What a country!

Honestly, I don’t blame him. The average NFL career lasts less than four years. He has mid to low round skills. I do not project a long and lucrative career as a player for him. So why not cash in on it. Everyone else around him will.

There will be plenty of people willing to throw their money at him. Strike while the iron is hot.

That’s a good point. If you aren’t much of a football player but have gained yourself a bit of notoriety like this, a career path as a “professional homosexual” might be a great option.

I’ll be very curious as to what team drafts him. It’s almost a guarantee it will be more about headlines (Jets) or politics (Steelers) than football.

Given his awful performance at the combine it seem he should be focusing on his game. Weak, slow and undersized is not a good combination for someone who wants to play defensive lineman in the NFL.

Unless that combine was just a really bad day for him (which, given the media circus, might be the case) and he’s found a way to show the scouts something more, he’ll probably get a late round spot from a team with no pressing needs who will take one for the league and just throw him out there on kickoff coverage.

I don't know how a media circus could make you run a 4.9 40 and bench 223 only 17 times.

Nerves, distraction, possibly even illness or exhaustion. I only throw it out there as a possibility, not that it’s particularly likely.

That said, a “star” level player should be able to handle such things (minus illness, perhaps) and not let it affect their “game”. I mean, if scrutiny and pressure are going to depress your abilities, that does’t bode well for big-game performance, now, does it?

Certainly illness could case such a performance but I heard nothing of him being sick. As somebody who has been working out regularly and intensely for a long time I'll tell you that one has an automatic tendency to focus when you're holding two hundred pounds over your head. Nerves and distractions pretty much disappear.

All of those hot jocks running around could make it difficult to run fast with a stiffy..
