In late December, President Barack Obamas new legislative affairs team sent him more than a dozen recommendations for ways to improve his strained relations with Capitol Hill. The president responded with a few ideas of his own, including a request for more social events with lawmakers at the White House. [ ]
Yet it appears unlikely that the White Houses attempt to warm relations with Congress will help Obama advance his legislative agenda. Republicans have little incentive to improve ties with Obama at this point in his second term, particularly given his sagging approval ratings. Both parties are making clear they have little appetite for tackling big bills in an election year. [ ]
The new outreach to lawmakers also did little to prevent the White House from an embarrassing defeat on the Senate floor last week, when bipartisan lawmakers rejected Obamas candidate to be the governments chief civil rights attorney. Eight Democrats joined with all 44 Republicans to block Debo Adegbile from advancing toward confirmation.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww... Obama’s allies are keeping away from him, he needs new friends!
Only the AP thinks that those 8 Democrats who voted against the fan of a cop killer to head up the Civil Rights division at Justice will suffer for it. To the rest of the world, that vote was a no-brainer....and only those with no brains voted for this un-American racist.
Let Congress come with him on a few of his taxpayer funded multi-million dollar vacations-that should loosen them up.
It apparently doesn’t occur to the AP reporter that Obama kicked the Republicans in the teeth directly and through his proxies Pelosi, Reid and Wasserman-Shultz for years without ever attempting to listen to their points of view. Now that he wants to outreach, the story, as usual, makes the Republicans into the villains for not immediately embracing bipartisanship.
Obama does not know the meaning of compromise. He has demonstrated consistently that it must be his way or no way. It isn’t election year politics causing the Republicans to resist then new “outreach” it is Obama’s behavior. There is no trust. Of course, the media doesn’t see it that way.
A request for more social events at the White House. Lol
Party on!!!
Obama’s answer is more social gatherings but
eat before you come.
EBYC, ya’ll.
Only one needed, "RESIGN!"
What kind of “stab” is Hussein making, in the front or in the back?
I am not a member of Congress. But if I were, I would have nothing to do with nobama. I wouldn’t attend meetings with him and wouldn’t attend his speeches, including the SOTU which has become a joke.
I would, in effect, boycott him as much as possible, as he has nothing to offer me or my constituents.
I would be very respectful of the office of the president, but not the officeholder.
Maybe this is the reason I’m not a member of Congress :)
why change anything? Blackmail has been working just great so far.
Takes a modicum of courage to stab in the front.
Let’s see:
1. Admit to the fraud, lying and crimes committed in F&F, Ben Gazi, IRS, etc., ad nausem.
2. Repeal the onerous regulations that are killing small businesses.
3. Stop being extra-constitutional.
IMHO, those three things would go a long way towards (re)establishing trust between Congress and this president.
Perhaps after this last stab fails completely, nobama will just acquiesce?
All those things would take an epiphany of the failure of the ideology of leftism and the realization of the sanity of conservatism to strike Obama. We can certainly pray for that to happen, although that would be a mighty effort of prayer; and there are certainly heretics out there praying for the opposite effect.
