Russian troops on Friday attacked a Ukranian military base 5 kilometers from the Ukranian city Sevastopol, located on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula.

According to early reports, members of a pro-Russia militia used a truck to break though the gate of the base. The truck got stuck at the gate, and Russia soldiers climbed over it. Some 70 Ukrainian troops were said to still be holding out in the bunkers. Russians troops who broke through the perimeter demanded the Ukrainian soldiers surrender. There were no reports of shots being fired.

Putin is trying very hard to provoke a violent response and the Ukrainians know this. Eventually the Russians will start shooting.

“I guess Putin could give 2 craps about what 0 or Kerry say.
Well, I don’t disagree with him there.”

This is payback bigtime by Putin against Obama personally. I believe Putin can’t stand him. Not even counting the golden opportunity Putin was given to get the Crimea back, he could show the world what an empty suit Obama is as an aside. Did Obama/Kerry & Co./along with the willing handmaidens MSM think they could trash Putin’s Sochi Olympics prior to them beginning with impunity and try to ruin the centerpiece of Putin’s strutting upon the world stage and that there would be no repercussions?

Aside from reaquiring the Crimea for Russia, Putin now gets to stick his finger in Obama’s eye, make the EU and US sweat it out as to what Putin’s going to do next, and teach a lesson to the West about who really has the power right now, and it ain’t the US under this Prez and his regime. Obama deserved the comeuppance, the rest of us not so much, except for those idiots that voted for Obama, or didn’t bother to vote Republican the last presidential election. Ye reap what ye sow.

Have the Ukes fired a single shot in their own defense yet? If the answer is “no”, then why should anyone do anything to help them?

It was Churchill who abandoned Poland, not Chamberlain.

Because it’s the right thing to do. Let’s see how many shots you would fire if the Russian bear was riding into your land, and you had nobody to help because your so called friends were a clown and a bunch of cowards.

Obama is the madman. Putin is just acting in his nationalistic best interest -- perfectly rational.

"America will save"

Give me a break.

BS. Putin is a murderous madman. Obama is the little clown who we are stuck with as president when we need a real leader who know how to deal with the evil of the world. We need a Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush now more than ever.

Any Republicans for declaring war?
Any Democrats for declaring war?
Any Conservatives for declaring war?

Man, I don’t know if you’re 85 years old or something and stuck in that world policeman mentality forever but most FReepers do not share your view.

It’s quite a coincidence that, assuming this is true, the bases were taken just as Obama started his FL vacation.

" Russia resembles Nazi Germany beginning. "

Putin has a big army plus atomic bombs. Are you advocating that we draft 10,000,000, start rationing, increase taxes to pay for it, and declare war? That's what it took to defeat Hitler.

But if you do anything at any time it has a high probability of coinciding with Hussein’s or BigButt’s vacations or golf trips.

How do you know what most FReepers views are on this topic? If we don’t keep the Russian bear in its cage, the Soviet Union will be reborn.

Read up on the history of Crimea and you will see that the Crimea has been part of Russia for longer then Texas has been part of the USA.
