Russian troops on Friday attacked a Ukranian military base 5 kilometers from the Ukranian city Sevastopol, located on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula.

According to early reports, members of a pro-Russia militia used a truck to break though the gate of the base. The truck got stuck at the gate, and Russia soldiers climbed over it. Some 70 Ukrainian troops were said to still be holding out in the bunkers. Russians troops who broke through the perimeter demanded the Ukrainian soldiers surrender. There were no reports of shots being fired.

“Russian soldiers attack Ukrainian military base in Crimea ... There were no reports of shots being fired.”

Did someone revise the definition of attack ?

Everything I am hearing makes it clear...at least to this point...that the Russians are occupying these bases.

No shots have been fired either in the taking of them, or defending them.

My guess is that the Ukranina soldiers are under oders not to shoot unless fired upon.

The Ukraine, at least in Crimea, is tryong to avoid giving Putin any pretext to open fire and have an excuse for trying to take even more of the Ukraine.

My guess is that Putin has written them off.
Putin has their number.
And based on that so now does China and Iran and the muslim world.

But barry and company get to relax after a long working week.

In 2010, Ukraine petitioned to become a member of NATO, which was rejected. The NATO Charter states that “an attack on one, is an attack on all”, so we could very well have been facing a war with Russia, had they joined. It still may come to that though. In 1990, we had no alliance with Kuwait, yet we still went to war. of course in 1990, we had a REAL president also.

You may be right.
Putin has figured out barry and that he has three years to run wild over eastern Europe and no one will stop him.
With no credible deterrent, why wouldn’t he?

“Thanks to an insane Putin. “

Not crazy, he’s playing high stakes poker against the faculty lounge lizard. (The lizard is playing checkers.) It’s note even high risk. He has all the cards.

When there’s no risk, why shouldn’t Putin take all?

Well, I don't disagree with him there.

According to BBC News:

Ukraine crisis: Armed men 'seize Crimea military base'

Armed men thought to be Russian have seized a Ukrainian military base in the Crimean city of Sevastopol.

However, the Reuters reporter said he could not see sign of any damage to the gate and that the armed men appeared to have taken control without a shot being fired.

A Ukrainian military official, Vladislav Seleznyov, said no-one was hurt.

I guess they must've been trained to fight by the French.

“I guess they must’ve been trained to fight by the French. “

The leaders didn’t give them orders to fire. If they had there would have been a fight.

This is what I’m afraid of, our men being given bad orders or no orders or told to wait for orders that never come.
