Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz grilled Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on his department's budget during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing:
"The Department of Defense continues to spend billions of dollars unnecessarily on alternative energy research programs at DoD. The Navy recently spent $170 Million on algae fuel, that costs four times as much as regular fuel," Cruz said.
He continued by describing other similar projects in contrast to cuts in the funding for additional combat troops in the United States' armed services.

Hagel probably thought perhaps you did not get the message our military is more about social justice and enviornmental concerns then winning wars or keeping the peace.
Ted Cruz is right. The Leftist enemies ruining this country have found the perfect idiot to head the Defense Dept. Hegel deserves no respect. The cowardly generals in their Pentagon offices should be fighting to save the U.S. military from these domestic enemies. However, they are too worried about losing their pensions, so Ted Cruz has to fight this battle for them. Totally disgusting.

Those "Golden Fleece Awards" were never really honest. They always focused on nitpickery, and ignored true fraud, waste and abuse.

Until we are willing to eliminate whole programs, whole departments, even Cabinet level departments, we will continue to throw taxpayer money down the toilet by the trillions of dollars. Algae fuel research by the Navy is stupid ... but it's not the real problem.

How could it be that Senator Cruz was not aware of Hagel’s Combat Tanks, (HCT’s), that have Windmills mounted on them?

Senator Cruz also was not even vaguely aware of Hagel’s Hum-Vees, (HHV’s) powered by Solar Paneled Algae Jars, (SPAJ’s), mounted where the now obsolete headlights used to be - - -, what?
Yeah I know, these HHV’s are dependent on the SPAJ’s getting enough Sunlight to keep up with the HCT’s, if the wind is blowing, of course.
Hagel’s Pentagon is leaving no stone unturned to develop an Obamanation New-Age Technology, (ONAT), to be able to fight a “firefight at night.”
All Hagel is asking for is to “transfer” troop money to research money.
Obviously, The Secretary of Wussy War Hagel cannot comment on the exact amount that is requested to be expended at this time because the expenditure of hard-earned taxpayer dollars is still ongoing.
The main enemy of the moment has nothing to fall back on once the industrial world loses its dependency on fossil fuel. Making that happen sooner is an obvious strategic interest.
