Half of all Americans believe that gay men and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll in which a large majority also said businesses should not be able to deny serving gays for religious reasons.

Fifty percent say the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of equal protection gives gays the right to marry, while 41 percent say it does not.

So much for the fall back line of religious liberty exemptions. Over/under when revoking tax exempt status of churches etc that refuse to do same sex marriages is a credible policy position. Remember Bob Jones Univ lost its tax exempt status because of its anti-interracial dating policy.

Where, specifically, does the Constitution talk about marriage or homosexual marriage?

The American Idol society speaks (asuming this isn’t bogus push poll, which is a big if).

What is this “equal protection” in the Constitution, and what does “protecting” have to do with LETTING someone marry?

After all, marriage cannot be a right if it requires at least 2 parties to agree to it. No-one has a “right” to marry. Only an opportunity.

A several year PR campaign on TV and in the media could now convince most Americans that gravity doesn’t exist, or that the moon is made of cheese. I find most Americans don’t believe “anything” any longer. It has been that easy for the homosexual-lobby to change minds.

And some conservatives believe this nation is favored by God????

This is agit-prop by the homos. It’s all they’ve got to distract from child raping and buggery. Do you really think most Americans favor that?

It does not matter what idiots in America think of the Constitution or of GOD’s word... their opinions do not change the UNCHANGING.

What do you expect. 60% of Americans have never read the document, and are largely morons.

This is the logical result of the 1965 Civil Rights Act, which is why so many conservatives opposed it. America lost ‘freedom of association’ almost 50 years ago.

This is the key!!! You are absolutely right about that. It is not a "right".

Regarding the so-called constitutionality of gay marriage, please consider the following. Patriots who take the initiative to study the Constitution and its history for themselves, as opposed to basing their understanding of the Constitution on hearsay, gossip and wives’ tales, can tell you that gay marriage is not a constitutionally protected right for the following reasons.

First, the Founding States had made the 10th Amendment to clarify that the Constitution’s silence about things like marriage means that such issues are automatically unique state power issues, the feds having no control over such issues.

Next, the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect gay “rights.” So the states are free to make laws which discriminate against constitutionally unprotected gay issues, such as same-sex marriage, as long as such laws don’t also unreasonably abridge constitutionally enumerated rights.

OK, now tell us, WaPo, who did you poll? Give the stats:
Age group, geographic area, income, sex - and, most importantly, their sexual “orientation” ...

Then we’ll talk about the validity of this “poll.”

The sodomites are pushing hard against cultural mores, using tactics of intimidation the old and indoctrination of the young. Since they cannot increase their numbers through procreation, they have only seduction to spread their perverted cause.

Americans need to not only resist these reprobates, but we need to start hitting back in this game of hardball ... Take off the gloves and start publishing ALL the various perverted acts practiced by these twisted fools ... Also include the statistics on disease, mortality, assaults, drug abuse, suicide rates, promiscuity ... And the career status and income of the typical homosexual / lesbian ... The light of truth is the greatest disinfectant known to man!

I see many who are very easily convinced, basis whatever the media tells them.

Excellent insight! It's to bad that uncommon common sense is needed to appreciate that insight.

After the “Greatest Generation”, America produced the “Baby Boomers” and now we have the Dumbest Generation. The demise of our country cannot be far behind.

Where does it talk about abortion either? Loony liberals make things fit the Constitution/Bill of Rights when it suits them, choose to ignore it or say it is outdated when it doesn’t suit them. They pretend to not understand what is clearly there like the 2nd Amendment but add things on a whim.

The “Greatest Generation” spawned the selfish, left-leaning Baby Boomers. Many of them may have fought in WWII, but they came back and partied hard and abdicated their child-rearing responsibilities. Then they got divorced in great numbers to pursue the sexual party that was just beginning.

The use of religion is a defacto surrender of logic and reason to the enemy.

The fact is homosexual “marriage” is only about a recreational sex fetish.

Marriage has NEVER EVER had a love test in the eyes of the law.
