WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama plans a weeklong solo visit to China this month that includes meetings with China's first lady and high school and university students.
It will be her first visit to the Asian economic powerhouse.
In an announcement Monday on the White House blog, the first lady says a China visit is important because it is the most populous country in the world, with more than 1.3 billion people, and plays an important role on the world stage.

she is not the leader of our country shes doesn’t represent us and this will not be a diplomatic trip..

Another unprecedented overseas vacation for this first lady, her kids and even mother all paid for by the American people.
In all of our history, we have never seen a first family that vacationed so much and never have seen a first lady who uses our money to vacation with her kids to distant overseas exotic destinations.
Just building some foreign policy credentials for the time when she runs for president. Hilary has set the precedent.
Is that the most inane justification you ever heard or what? May as well add that the visit is important because China ends in an "A" and as we all know, "A" is the beginning of the alphabet.

a vacation is something that occurs maybe once a year that a working person takes..
monthly Imelda Marcos style luxury trips to exotic lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous spots are not vacations..
Gee, they couldn’t just go to NY’s Chinatown? The air is a lot cleaner.

This trip will give the girls a chance to see the world and for Sasha to practice her Mandarin.
Sasha Obama studies Mandarin at Sidwell Friends school...The first lady has said she sees such trips abroad as an opportunity both to act as an ambassador for the United States and to expose her daughters to the world. Her daughters receive national briefing books on the countries they visit, styled after the books prepared for the president and first lady.
You simply can't put a price too large on that.
Why not the Crimea? I heard it’s very nice in the spring.
