“Stranger rape” was my main point.

Sorry if I did not make that clear.

I’ve lived in several college towns.

Years ago I noticed that the number of campus “rapes” reported in college newspapers was always on the order of 10 to 12 times higher than the number of rape prosecutions reported in the local county.

That got me thinking about the number of rape abortions.

Combining stranger rape statistics with incest statistics immediately strikes me as deceptive.

I will speculate that there are many, many more incest pregnancies than stranger rape pregnancies, simply because incest frequently goes on over a long period of time.

Thanks for bringing up the statutory rape issue, which I had not even thought about.

That makes the 1 in 149 statistic even more confusing.

One reason for the discrepancy between reported rapes in a college paper and rape prosecutions reported in real press is, a large proportion of rape accusations are either not substantiated, recanted, or found to be false. In some studies maybe more. Among college students I would expect the number to be north of 50%. The other factor is that many rapes are not investigated in a timely manner. Cleveland recently found a whole raft of rape kits from years ago that never were properly processed. I suspect they are not alone.
