France shared a border with Germany. They had to have a large army. We do not share a border with any of the scary threats the worrymongers use to frighten nervous people. We don’t need a large standing but rather the national will to control the borders we have.
Most countries have an Army, in Germany, an Army has a country.

IF we placed our military on the border with mexico, it would take an Army ten times it’s current size to effectivly seal off the border.
