If this Harvard University student got her way, free speech on campus would be abolished and professors with dissenting views fired, because radical leftism is the only permissible political philosophy and the First Amendment is a barrier preventing modern colleges from fulfilling their proper role as indoctrination camps.
Her name is Sandra Korn. She is a senior at Harvard and columnist for the Harvard Crimson.
In a recent column, Korn unambiguously insisted that the university should stop guaranteeing professors and students the right to hold controversial views and pursue research that challenges liberalism.

“Concentrator”? Ah-huh.
I read the article. There is a kernel - a very small kernel - of truth in what she says. There *are* some professors who spout dogma and political advocacy and hide behind the academic freedom banner. Ward Churchill comes to mind.
That said, her solution is the path of fascism and mob rule. The age old questions of what is unacceptable, who decides what is acceptable, and who watches the watchers all immediately come to the forefront when giving her proposal even the most superficial examination.
By all means, if you find something unacceptable, feel free to speak out about it. Peaceful assembly and freedom to speak one’s mind are two of the most sacred rights guaranteed by our great constitution. But don’t think for a minute you have the right to squelch an agenda or idea that doesn’t fit your own narrative of what is “right”, you little jackboot.
What idiots like this don’t think about is what happens when those with opposing views take control and outlaw their viewpoints and sentence them to death for them. History is full of this type of thing and idiots like her just don’t seem to grasp the concepts of free speech. Or, they are incapable of arguing their viewpoint and must have the opposite viewpoint banned. It is just unbelievable what our “education” system is producing now.
She would fit in well here in Canada. Perhaps she can apply to be on a Human Rights Commission.

Mzzzzzz Korn is a typical liberal twerp, but her views probably are no different from those of 99% of tenured faculty at any of our behemoth schools of indoctrination.
For the umpteenth time, it was William F. Buckley who observed, “I would rather be governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than by the two thousand members of the Harvard University faculty.”

A degree that entails speaking volumes and saying nothing of inherent value.

Laugh at your own peril. Over achieving little facist wannabes like Miss Korn have a way of getting into positions of power. Her and people like her will be making life and death decisions about who gets health care, who gets investigated by the FBI or NSA, etc. They become congressional aides, white house advisors, DOJ administrators, or even supreme court justices. One day you may be called to appear her as she decides whether or not you go to the gulag or merely to a re-education camp.
