“The University of Houston-Downtown has about 14,000 students and, while Wikipedia says UHD students are 39% Hispanic, 29% African American, 20% white, 9% Asian American, the percentage of transgendered students is evidently unknown,” according to College Insurrection.
Nevertheless, with the encouragement of “the university’s new Center for Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,” UHD is now creating “gender-neutral” restrooms to accommodate the, uh, gender neutral. And this regime is “coming soon to a college near you,” as Aleister at College Insurrection says.
Questions:
Why does a campus with such a diverse student body need a “Center for Student Diversity”? Doesn’t the student diversity seem to be taking care of itself without supervision?
Does anyone else remember when coed dorms were considered a scandalous idea? Or better yet, does anyone remember when many colleges were either all-male or all-female?
Given that 26 million people live in Texas, if a student body of 14,000 contains enough transgender people to justify “gender-neutral” restrooms, isn’t it possible that Texas could create an all-transgender university, just for them?
Never knew that was considered a race...
Stories like this are the reason I always vote against school bonds. If they have enough dough to do this sort of thing, they don’t need any more.
I would call it a race to the bottom. I think there should be a redneck U. I know we are a separate race. Ever see a black at a mud slinging race. We are a little different and therefore should be treated like any other minority with all the perks that go with it.

Does UHD have a Center for White American Studies? I bet they don’t.
All those studies majors - womyn's, Chicano, AfrAm, queer etc etc - need jobs. Where else are they qualified for employment other than McDonald's and Starbucks.
And that's why college tuitions are skyrocketing. More and more useless administration.
If I were a student there I would take all of my dumps in the gender neutral bathroom, and be sure to pee all over the seat before I left.
Don’t be silly. Race and ethnicity are soooo 20th century. It is far more important that the 78.3% of the country that is gay, transgendered, sheep-ophilic, or gets off fantasizing about rubber boots be properly represented. I definitely do not want to be accused of being pervert-o-phobic.

Hell, I’d go in the sink. If the room is neutral so are the fixtures. Doesn’t matter what their “perceived” (i.e. normal) use should be, it’s what I perceive it to be. So, therefore, I dump in the sink.
Would that be the hand washing sink or the foot washing sink? Never mind, it’s all neutral.
At Penn, the dorm bathrooms were co-ed/unisex going back several decades at least. “Voluntary” of course.
As I understood it, they may have become “segregated” for parents’ weekend visits.
Make sure there is a footwashing sink for the tranny muslims to not feel like outsiders.
Few yrs ago I went to Niagara falls.
In a bathroom was a sink on the floor. Thought it was a new style of urinal.
