Also, any executive orders that go beyond the bounds of the discretion allowed by Congress can be overturned by the courts.

An executive order is not a law. A valid executive order merely designates how federal agencies are to apply a law, within reasonable discretion as permitted by Congress. Any EO that goes beyond these bounds has no more legal validity than a proclamation by you or I.

Whether a court would properly make this distinction is of course an entirely separate question.

Not to get off topic, but I see that the Judge is still making appearances on Fox News.

However

I never see any more appearances on Fox News by Michelle Malkin. Anyone know why that is?

Take the Senate, then we might have a chance.

I think we had both houses of Congress when Clinton was impeached by the House and was not convicted by the Senate.

Obama by himself reminds me of the frustration we all had during the days of the Soviets. That regime seemed to be, like Obama seems now, to be completely invincible.

The Soviets were like a huge steamroller careening down a hill crushing everything in its way. But then, it came upon a Reagan and it could not go around him.

Today we have a compilation of everything that was the Soviets wrapped into one package called Obama. He seems unstoppable.

The only way to dismantle him is not through the actions of one person or a small group of people like the Congress. It will take the concerted effort of millions of Ronald Reagans.

The consensus of historians and political observers is that the Clinton impeachment backfired for the Republicans.

IMO, a successful impeachment of Obama would backfire even more, due to his race.

This is not because I believe it SHOULD backfire. I think the American people are foolish enough, however, that it would.

Impeachment is a House function not Senate. Still won’t happen IMO. Even if the Senate doesn’t remove the House should do its duty and impeach the SOB.

That would result in Boehner as President.

Not sure that would be a huge improvement.

And, yes, VP can be impeached just like the Pres.

True. I see that as merely a slowing of the bleeding.

There is no direct political fix.

The solution is a sea-change in the hearts and minds of Americans, at which point they will elect better leaders. Which means the solution is cultural, not directly political, as one would expect in a society where the government is a reflection of the will of the people.

But in ourselves...”

Are we approaching Obama’s Ceausescu Moment?

Mr. President learn from Ceausescu!

*Oct. 2010* He obviously did not listen.

Condi Rice coined the phrase “Ceausescu Moment”.

Here is a video of Ceausescu’s Last Speech, December 1989

Cut off funding to the Executive Agencies that are to enforce the Executive Orders. Close them down.

Who should take the Senate? Republicans? Sorry, but that makes me giggle.

The party is so infested with liberals, it’s no longer distinguishable from the Democrats.

President Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

Clinton earned a Get Out of Impeachment Free pass for all future POTUSes.

Congress will NEVER EVER EVER EVER again have the guts to go there. Unless it is a Republican POTUS and a filibuster-proof Democrat Senate.

In the long run there will be a steep historical price to pay for the failure to bring Free Willy down.

Won’t work.

Either we fix this at the elections, or the consequences are “unthinkable”.

No sane person wants to go there, but there is always a final option.

Same problem now. An unwilling Senate.

President Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

Yes, and the founders. And Barry Goldwater.

He’s correct.

So, as a practical matter, if the Senate is dominated by unscrupulous members of the same party as the President, he can do whatever the heck he wants, just as he said to the French President the other day.

IOW, the rules are different, depending on which party it is that dominates the Senate. Republicans were willing to convict Nixon, but the Rats will never vote to convict one of their own, as they proved with Clinton. And some people say there’s no difference between the parties.

On a policy level, there isn’t much difference between the GOPe and the Rats these days, but on a moral level they are as different as night and day.

The problem with impeaching Obama is that the lawmakers who have the constitutional authority to impeach Obama need to be impeached themselves.

Remember in November.
