Slavery reparations sought from Britain by 14 Caribbean nations

Could this be the decade that slavery reparations become a reality?

If not, it won't be for a lack of trying. This is the obvious next step for poor countries getting poorer because of bad economics, bad politics, and bad, bad leaders. Former colonial powers are to be milked for all the cash that can be gotten by laying a guilt trip on the good socialists who run these countries now.

Any successes enjoyed by the former colonies will no doubt encourage African Americans to try the same ploy here.

Jamaica is leading the way in pushing for reparations from Great Britain.

From The Telegraph:

A coalition of 14 Caribbean states, including Jamaica, agrees with Mr Thompson, and is now mounting the first united campaign for reparations from Britain over its role in the Atlantic slave trade.

Represented by CARICOM, the regional organisation, the group is prepared to sue in the courts. It has hired Leigh Day, the London law firm that last year won £20 million for Kenyans tortured by the British during the Mau Mau rebellion of the 1950s.

This month it will unveil a list of 10 demands for Britain, France and Holland, including funds likely to total billions, an apology, and assurances slavery will never be repeated, The Telegraph can disclose.

Professor Verene Shepherd, the chairman of Jamaica's reparations committee, said British colonisers had "disfigured the Caribbean," and that their descendants must now pay to repair the damage.

"If you commit a crime against humanity, you are bound to make amends," Prof Shepherd told The Telegraph. "The planters were given compensation, but not one cent went to the freed Jamaicans".

From the mid-18th century, British merchants shipped more than three million people from west Africa to the Americas,

A lot of slaves that were “freed” by the Brits to fight in the revolution found themselves sold into slavery. However that doesn’t mean their descendants shouldn’t get over it.

everyone who owned a slave should pay up to those who have been enslaved by them

we all agree on that

However, none of those people are alive

in the first place?

“The planters were given compensation, but not one cent went to the freed Jamaicans”.

They got a developed country across the ocean from Africa; they’ve been paid.

Britain should sever all diplomatic ties with those 14 nations and refuse to let the citizens of those nations enter the Commonwealth for any reason. No aid should be provided in the event of natural disasters, no tourist visas granted, no exchange allowed at all between Britain and the 14 Caribbean nations. They’ll quickly realize that any ill effects of the slave trade from long ago is far outweighed by the benefits provided through current interaction with the Brits. After they apologize and promise to actively thwart any future reparation attempts they can get their diplomatic and trade ties restored.

Or maybe the Brits can simply go all Falklands on their asses.

Offset that with the costs of infrastructure provided by the Brits, plus the education system. Add to it the cost of defense by the Royal Navy for several generations.

Let’s see who owes who.

That’s the future they made for it; it didn’t have that when they got it...

Meanwhile, places with thriving slave trades are ignored.

The UK needs to tell ‘em to pound sand. The UK suppressed the slave trade starting about 1807.
They should go sue the Africans that sold ‘em into slavery in the first place (instead of killing them...).

Great Britain ended slavery, a practice that had existed from the dawn of man. It was the first large nation to do so, setting into motion a wave of abolitionism that was accepted by the civilized world. These people are free and live in the Caribbean. They should pay Great Britain.
