Hmm, what do all these places have in common?
“Odds of falling victim to a violent crime in East St. Louis were a frightening 1 in 17. Odds of falling victim to either a violent crime or a property-related crime were an even more disheartening 1 in 7. On top of these numbers, residents of East St. Louis were more likely than residents of nearly any other city on this list to have their car stolen (with the exception of Detroit), with a 1 in 64 chance of being victim of car theft.”
Yo. Yoots.
Just like any other city, there are certain areas where most of the murders take place.
Caused by Hope, Change and Meth.
Maybe due to residents being killed?
And, the Black ethnic statistics they quote are for Kansas City, MO, too.
However, the ethnic statistics for K.C., Kansas are even more dangerous than K.C., Missouri.
The Kansas side is 60% non-white, with almost a 30%-30% split for Blacks and Hispanics.
I'm wondering if K.C., Missouri gets a lot of “Homicide Tourists” from its Kansas side neighbors?
I looked at all the “reply’s” and saw they were from Kansas ... go figure.
Blacks = High murder rates
I don’t think there’s ever been an expectation that journalist = deep thinker, except among themselves. As others have noted in the thread, anybody who has spent more than 15 minutes in the KC Metro knows the exact reason, as contained the Time article you linked and quoted. It’s not rocket surgery, as they say...
HA HA, very good. Could be a contributing factor I suppose.
To compare U. S. cities with one troubled African location, lhe Johannesburg/Pretoria Gauteng Province murder rate declined from 83 per 100K in 1995 to 30 per 100K in 2011, a change of 53 in 16 years.
Maybe we ought to find out what caused that dramatic decrease?
Gun control? Spear control? /s
Gee...Oakland, Baltimore, New Orleans, Detroit, KC....all Amish strongholds. What could possibly explain the killings? Then pollsters wonder why there is zero credibility for the media these days.
The Metro area is basically three pretty distinct areas. KCMO, KCKS, and Johnson County. They are physically close but worlds apart.
You can practically see the author of this idiocy shaking his head vigorously and gritting his teeth while trying not to write what EVERYONE knows is the answer to his question.
Painfully obvious vs. political correctness....PC wins!
Mo.
The reporter is not “stumped” as to the cause/reason for the killings. He or she is hoping that they can “stump” you as to the cause/reason for the killings.
