Every time I see something like this it hurts. These men deserve a country that stands behind them, gives them clear objectives, and makes the Rules of Engagement sensible. I fear they are getting little or none of that.

True, it really makes me angry that they are forced to be sitting ducks for our Afghan “allies”. RIP fellow Americans.

In case anyone else besides me missed the death of this soldier, too:
Pelham and Skelt were the third soldiers from Fort Bragg killed in Afghanistan this week. Officials said 27-year-old Spc. Christopher A. Landis of Independence, Ky., died Feb. 10, on Bagram Airfield from wounds received when the enemy attacked his dismounted patrol with a rocket propelled grenade, also in Kapisa Province.

This should be on the front page of every newspaper. I didn’t even know that we lost 3 heroes this week. The fact that the first was on Bagram airfield is a very bad sign.

As I scrolled down reading the posts, and without seeing yours directly below #7, I had almost the same thought. The death of the soldier at Bagram, of all places and almost 13 years post D-day, is sickening to say the least in what it says about our ROE.

The Romanians used to pull security at Kandahar “outside the wire” and their rules of engagement were real simple and kept us relatively safe. Their ROE? Find the enemy and engage them.

I also believe that they were not signatory to the Geneva Convention, which was another plus!
