When you are attacked at an unprotected point, you round up what’s available and get it going to the fight. You then mobilize assets from further away to backfill the assets that are going to the fight. As far as we’ve been told, this never happened.
When the shooting starts, you go with what you have, not what you wish you had.
We didn’t know the enemy’s intent. Or did we? We managed to get the Ambassador’s body. How much did that cost? Our people at the CIA Annex were allowed to leave. How much did that cost? To me, it looks like the United States had communication with our enemies in Benghazi.
We had four Americans murdered in Benghazi and we retreated with our tails between our legs. That is the most important point because it shapes the future. What has Obama done to make sure that these people are punished to send the message that if you murder Americans, we will come and give you so much pain that you’ll wish you had never been born? Nothing. He goes golfing. We are ALL at risk because our Commander In Chief is a dithering idiot.

That’s my biggest question too, why was he painting targets? As a former soldier, I would never paint a target unless the strike vehicle was in range and ready to let loose.
Actually, as was suggested a few months ago by someone: If they had sent in fighter jets, they would have broken up the groups at the compound and given time for reinforcements to come in. A couple hours away by fighter jet is nothing. Early on, they mentioned that Sigonella is only 3-4 hours away and could have scrambled a couple jets to do a fly-over to break up the parties on the ground. Ships in the Med (at Crete, as is shown) are a lot closer than Sigonella. This was doable. I know that some generals said (much later) that it would not have helped, but ANYONE could see that they were being forced to say what the president told them to say.
The real issue is that this should NOT have been a surprise. There had been months of intel saying that something was brewing. Stevens had begged for help, feeling that it was a certainty that SOMETHING was going to happen…and the anniversary of 9/11? Give me a break! Had this been a republican he’d have been marched out of the WH and handcuffed on public TV for all the world to see what a derelict president we had. And, we are still arguing over the semantics? WHY do we let the democrats take charge of the narrative, anyway?
