Eric Holder makes case for felons to get voting rights back

Washington • Attorney General Eric Holder called on a group of states Tuesday to restore voting rights to ex-felons, part of a push to fix what he sees as flaws in the criminal justice system that have a disparate impact on racial minorities.

"It is time to fundamentally rethink laws that permanently disenfranchise people who are no longer under federal or state supervision," Holder said, targeting 11 states that he said continue to restrict voting rights for former inmates, even after they’ve finished their prison terms.

"Although well over a century has passed since post-Reconstruction states used these measures to strip African-Americans of their most fundamental rights, the impact of felony disenfranchisement on modern communities of color remains both disproportionate and unacceptable."

(January 31, 2014 (The Sentencing Project) Race & Justice News)

This is an election year headline....because there are too many minority votes thrown away for jail time. If Holder really cared other than for the votes, he would stop the inner city crime with tough laws as it is, keeping "The Minority Down On The Farm", poor and ignorant is the name of the Liberal Game. Come to think of it, Hillary Clinton tried this same ploy...these leftists only want your vote...for their own and continued power. For whatever the reason someone becomes a FELON, they give up their rights to vote...any sort of amnesty should hold the same for those FELONS.

Holder has no authority over this. Voting has been under the control of the individual states since the first days of nationhood.

Tell you what, Slick. How’s about you ensure the Military vote is fully accessed and counted before you start making a case that your people should get their voting rights back.

Every four years it’s the same old story, somehow, darn it, they just can’t get the military guys their ballots in time to be counted. Funny isn’t it.

I would love to think this is a self serving effort. It would be great to think he is worried about himself.

Education was under the control of individual states for over 150 years.

Eric Holder is a forward looking man.

He is thinking about his future.

Education was under the control of individual states for over 150 years.

And has been an utter disaster ever since the feds took control.

It wouldn’t be right to give them only their right to vote back. Their Second Amendment rights should also be restored. Are you ready for that too, Eric old boy? If you’re prepared to restore their right to vote (DemocRATik), you should be prepared to restore ALL of their rights.

Except, of course, when it becomes a civil rights issue, which is what Holder is framing it as.

The courts will decide, and my money says they decide his way.

All power to the courts.

I’d agree but only if our light-in-the-loafers AG agrees to collect each vote personally.

Another sign of political desperation, which has been a mainstay of their party for years now: When you can’t get lawful citizens to add to your vote-count, pander the unlawful ones. If that doesn’t get them enough votes they’ll go for those that are current offenders. Ha, ha, ha, you silly jokers!

“These restrictions are not only unnecessary and unjust, they are also counterproductive,” Holder said.

Well, yeah, unnecessary is right since they (the ex-felons) have probably been voting ANYWAY because, who's checking? Holder just wants to make it legal.

Honestly: how nanny of these low-life’s were registered voters before they were convicted and how many would bother to get out of bed and stand in line to vote if they had the chance? Thus is purely sympathy for the devil and just reveals how sordid the democrat party base really us.

Actually, I’m fine with restoring their right to bear arms. Even felons are entitled to defend themselves. Just make it dangerous for them to do anything else by making sure everybody can be armed.

But they can do serious harm by voting. So, no!

Actually, it is a civil rights issue. When a felon has completed his sentence the legal term for whatever rights he regains is “restoration of civil rights”. That can include voting rights, the right to serve on a jury, and other items that a state might restrict. I don’t see this as a federal issue, but Holder will try to make it one.

Holder can go to hell.

The only brains this guy has got he holds between two fingers when he takes a whiz.

I know I am not the only one that is so sick of these people I could just puke for a week, but sometimes it feels like it.

They want black convicted felons to vote, but they don’t count military votes. RATS are criminal scum, and Holder is a brazen criminal. If our system worked, Holder would have been in prison years ago.
