Last week, the Congressional Budget Office released a report discussing the ramifications of Obamacare. The report revealed that the work-hour equivalent of approximately 2.5 million jobs would disappear from the workforce, thanks to Obamacare, in a voluntary process in which employees would simply dump out of their jobs, knowing they could get health care through expanded Medicaid and federal subsidies they would lose by working.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., an ideological leftist thought leader, spun the report as a massive positive for Obamacare: The single mom, whos raising three kids (and) has to keep a job because of health care, can now spend some time raising those kids. Thats a family value. And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., celebrated the report as a defeat for the dreaded condition known as job lock the situation in which you have to stick at a job you dont like for the benefits. We have the CBO report, Reid stated, which rightfully says, that people shouldnt have job lock. If they we live in a country where there should be free agency. People can do what they want.
But, of course, people can only do what they want by taxing other Americans, borrowing from foreign creditors, and burdening future generations with unsustainable debt. And unfortunately, Schumers proclamation that the greatest beneficiaries of Obamacare will be single mothers turns out to be false: One of the studies relied upon by the CBO stated that those who benefit from the end of job lock are disproportionately white, single and of work age.
In reality, the Democratic vision of the world centers on the notion that work itself is a great evil to be avoided, and that any program allowing people to free themselves of work whether to finger-paint or start a garage band is an unmitigated good.
Job lock, according to the definition Reid gives, goes by another name, according to those who live in the real world: having a job. There are times that everyone hates his or her job. Were they freed from the economic consequences of having these jobs, theyd drop out of the workforce.
There are only two problems with this strategy: First, someone has to pay for it; second, it is not the recipe for human fulfillment. Leisure time is only leisure time when it is earned; otherwise, leisure time devolves into soul-killing lassitude. Theres a reason so many new retirees, freed from the treadmill of work, promptly keel over on the golf course: Work fulfills us. It keeps us going.
This doesnt mean every job fulfills us, naturally. But we have all worked rotten jobs in order to get to jobs we like. Capitalism doesnt mean, as my grandmother used to say, that you dont have to walk through some manure to get to the roses. It just means that if you walk through enough manure, youll likely get to the roses sooner or later. In the leisure-first world of the left, however, wallowing in mire is a preferred road to happiness over the hard work that brings true fulfillment.
The European style of living is seductive: fewer hours worked, more hours at the cafe, less concern over self-betterment. But that style of living does not produce a purposeful life. Perhaps wed all be happier in the short run were we somehow freed of our job lock. But we certainly would not contribute to the betterment of ourselves or the community around us. Wed leave the world worse than we found it. The opt-out society opts us out of societal happiness.
When an individual develops skills that are in demand in a market economy, they are freed from dependency on government.
Dependency = Control
The left hates work because once people start working it kills the need for the Government.
The left needs a permament voter bloc they can call on in elections.
The Dark Side 1%, limousine Liberals, millionaire Democrats, provincial potentates, Ivory Tower eggheads, Public-Private partnership racketeers, et al., all view hard work as beneath them.
But, of course, people can only do what they want by taxing other Americans, borrowing from foreign creditors, and burdening future generations with unsustainable debt."

The problem we have is Government Lock.
We need to break the link between production and taxes, regulation and debt burden.
Why work when you can vote yourself some more money so you can sit on your ass and do nothing?
The real culprits are the Voters who truly believe the politicians they send to DC can bring them their fair share of the nations productivity.
Each subsequent election will require the Politicians to make even grander promises.
The hidden agenda that is to a certain extent coming to pass, is the de facto reduction of the work week to the French and Netherlands 30 hours.
Coming from behind is the hue and cry to raise the minimum wage. That increase will ripple out as will the 30 hour week.
Presto, wages and then prices rise in a general inflation.
Zap......less hours, less accomplished, unemployed fill the 25% hour deficit....... unemployment is solved
LIBs/DIMs hate work because they just might be held accountable for their actions. Of course, being a “public servant” and “working” there is just fine.
We've been told forever by the Left that no one wants to be unemployed, that shiftlessness is a myth...it contradicted logic and experience, but they said it anyway.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., an ideological leftist thought leader, spun the report as a massive positive for Obamacare: The single mom, whos raising three kids (and) has to keep a job because of health care, can now spend some time raising those kids. Thats a family value.
It appears they have decided the lie they told for so many years wasn't working...a bigger lie was needed.
A child can see that's illogical and not sustainable...someone will have to be engaging in that four letter word, "work," so that 'single mom' can express her 'family values.'
That's amazingly cynical...yet, if a majority of voters could vote for Obama, anything is possible.
Meanwhile, Republicans have sent far too many jobs, to other countries.
Bring back jobs to America.
Democrats are Communists operating under a nom-de-faux.
They are not Americans, but are traitors all, for they do not believe in America but extol Communism.
Captain John Smith: “he who shall not work, shall not eat”
This is why Republicans have such a difficult time with national elections; people want a President who will "give" them things. Conservative platforms (not to be confused with Republican platforms) are only promising to get the hell out of the way. But the moochers don't equate freedom with something positive, they think they'll always have freedom.
Well heck. Unemployment is the number one way to grow the economy according to princess Nancy and unemployment releases us from the horrible condition of working. Democrats be smart.
Obamacare frees you to quit the job and follow your dream. What if following the dream means doing something you love, until you succeed at it, going full-time, and getting paid for it? Isn’t that now work?
And as I’ve said in my profile -
you have no right that imposes an involuntary burden on another person.
The left hates work because in the workplace it is the industrious who prosper. The left is *anything but* industrious!
