Take a look at where the "green" regions are. That's right, precisely where the shale revolution is picking up pace- primarily the Bakken, Eagle Ford, and Marcellus Shale Plays, is where you see increases in median household income from 2007 to 2012. Indeed, the oil and gas industry continues to be an important part of economic recovery.

Depending on where you live, that map can be pretty depressing. As an American, I look at the whole thing and see a whole lot of misery from coast to coast.

I don’t think it’s coincidental that this is the national income picture since the Dems took control of Congress in 2007. Those “green shoots” of prosperity running down the central portion of the country popped up DESPITE the Democrats - not because of them.
