FOX needs to kill American Idol. That show has gotten long in the tooth.
Please let Piers Morgan be next!
Where are we going to send him that he can be safe from Jeremy Clarkson, though?
OHHH I forgot about that never mind
NO CNN won’t give rid of Pier Morgan even with the ratings tanking
I think American idol going be cancel at end of this season
If you don’t watch it, American Idol is actually much improved this year. Harry Connick, Jr. and a new producer has greatly improved the show and its’ ratings.
Now why would we want to send Piers someplace where he’s safe from Jeremy Clarkson?
Rhetorical question.
no big surprise to me,
the show was not a novelty; the same folks were doing “American Idol” here before they brought X-factor here, and in spite of some stylistic differences, it was like “different dance but same song”,
then, it didn’t help that Simon Cowell wears on a lot of people and none of the other judges had a big positive following either - many were viewed negatively by many TV viewers
x-factor did so badly that a competing production in the same genre but done in a very different style and with judges prone to less hyperbole and less outrageousnous than either x-factor or Am Idol was able to enter the American market and has done fairly well - “The Voice”, and its not being conceled for next season, so the genre has not itself worn out
and guess what, if there is any big mass audition process in the 1,000s, for a season of “the voice” - as there is for Am Idol and X-factor - with all the crazy unqualified entrants, and with the long elimination process, it is NOT part of “the voice” production as far as what they provide to the TV audience (to me that’s a good thing), and the contestants they start with on their firts live show, to my mind, always seem to be an overall more talented group than what an Am Idol or x-factor show starts what they call their “live” shows with (they call them “live” but TV viewers have already been watching during the lead up to that); maybe, away from the TV cameras and any attempt to please an audience, the professionals working with the producers of “the voice” are doing a better job of screening and elminating those they see in auditions
frankly, I think, the judges on “the vooice” do a better job of rating the contestants, than is done by the TV viewers when the voting is turned over to them, on either one of the three shows - in the end, staying on TV is about being “popular” enough to have your show renewed and it is a popularity pitch to tell viewers to watch and vote for themselves who a winner ought to be
I heard they were going to let the contestants sing more “current” songs instead of choosing from their list of rock and roll standards to draw a younger demographic. The problem with that is the newer stuff is CRAP! Who wants to listen to that?
I agree, AI is 100 times better this year. The three judges have great chemistry and actually appear interested, the talent seems to be a lot better as well, and the show has a fresh feel.
“Where are we going to send him that he can be safe from Jeremy Clarkson, though?”
Clarkson will always haunt Morgan’s dreams. Rest assured.
As for Simon, I never understood his stupid move away from Idol. And I don’t eve watch the show. It was a cash cow and he said, “pif”, and went away from it.
Again, not knowing a lot about it on TV, Connick has delivered a lot. SOB knows music. His advice and judgement is spot on. Good program from what I’ve seen.
My family agrees. We ended up skipping AI last year, after watching a few episodes. The three judges are refreshing. Looking forward to more changes!
