So I'm gladly semi-retired as it is 15 degrees with snow on the ground here in Oklahoma City, when the phone rings. I take my attention off of the laptop and Freerepublic to answer the call. Caller ID says "Private Caller". I love those calls because I generally have a lot of fun with them. In fact I love them so much that I won’t put my phone number in the “do not call” database.
For years now, I give these people the run around when they call. I always throw in something negative about democrats, and generally have them laughing before it is over. These days Obammy Care is an easy target.
But this one was interesting. The young lady on the other end immediately explained she was calling for the national Marco Rubio election committee. She immediately went into her dialogue about the problems with the country and the democrats and how Marco Rubio could fix those, if I would only donate $75 to the PAC. I stopped her pretty quick. You know…… being a lifelong (54 years) resident of Oklahoma City, I know I have by birthright a natural Okie accent. But, I can really accentuate that when I want too. So in my best (Pauls Valleyian) Okie accent, I asked her why I would want to give money to some Potorican livin’ in Floriduh? After all, I live in the reddest, and damn proud of it, state in the Union. Why would I want to give $75 to some foreigner guy who wants to let all the river swimmers in for free? I asked “have you even tried to understand his position on Immigration??”
Well, this set her back a little. But she quickly rebounded with “I don’t agree with all of the republicans all the time either, but…..” That’s where I stopped her again. I said “I’ll bet you agree with that Rino Mark Levin dontcha? If it wasn’t for that Rino we wouldn’t even know who this Rubio goofball is? And what kinda name is Rubio?” I said, “heck, the guy lives in Floriduh and he don’t even have a tan. What’s more..... they can’t even vote right or count them chads right down there.”
Well, she was quite taken back by my statement that Mark Levin was a Rino. Before she could defend him further I stopped her again and ranted some more.
So we had fun for a bit with me playing this part, and her trying to defend Rubio and Levin. I finally told her to have a nice day and that maybe they should limit their calling to “them liberal states… like Texas or Nebraska.”
But after we hung up…. I wondered…. I mean for all I know this was Politico, or Move On, or I love Hillary calling. We gotta be really careful.
Back when I had a landline connected to a phone I would get dozens of calls like that. No matter who they asked for, I would ask them to hold for a minute then put my two year old on the phone. She was a talker, even back then and for some reason an adult has a hard time hanging up on a toddler. I used to just listen and laugh.

OMG, another one! My brother in law claims PV is now world famous for their world championship noodling contest and I look the part.
Ever since we dropped out landline in favor of cellular-based service, our evenings have remained blissfully free from these fatuous, smarmy entreaties to donate to the Vichy Republican cause.
PV is about 30 or 40 miles south of me :) In all seriousness.... Rubio is from a purple state. I mean it is marginal at best. Why would a person expect more than purple or marginal legislation from him. I’m not going to give money to this guy.
As much as I don’t want to see a Dem in office, I’m not going to vote for anyone who isn’t crystal clear on securing the border. I don’t trust anyone who has been critical of Arizona on this issue.
So that means I won’t vote for Jeb, and I won’t vote for Rubio. I once had high hopes for both of them. But both of them have gone over to the dark side on more than one issue.
So if either one of the heads the ticket, I’m out.
For me its a pretty short list. Cruz, Lee, Palin, and who else? Anyone?
God bless you and all the conservatives in OK. I live in FL and I wouldn’t give RINO Rubio a dime. I’m tired of him and his pretend conservative friends trying to rob conservative pockets for their liberal agendas. I’ll never forget the sound of Rubio’s traitorous pro amnesty ads all over the talk radio airwaves. I don’t know how he has the nerve to even show his face after what he pulled.
