A state representative has filed articles of impeachment against Governor Jay Nixon for his executive order telling the Revenue Department to accept joint tax returns filed by same-sex couples legally married in other states.
The articles have been filed by Parkville state representative Nick Marshall (R). He says Nixons action goes against Missouris Constitution, which voters in 2004 amended to say marriage in the state is defined as being between a man and a woman.
Marshalls filing has been signed by seven other representatives, all Republicans.
If the filing is allowed to move forward, Nixon would be tried by a commission of seven jurists elected by the Senate.
Another representative, Mike Moon of Ash Grove (R), has said he will seek to impeach Nixon for not acting quickly enough to set special election dates for vacant seats in the House and one in the Senate, but he has not made a filing yet.

like fer sure!
using a name like Nixon as eternally associated as it is with Dick Nixon in this day and age of instant international communications Id have thought at least one editor would have noted the possbility for miscommunication...
Uh! could we get pictures of that young blond hired based on cup size that you spoke of so that we may determine actual guilt or innocence?
THIS is far more impeachment worthy to me, but whatev. He vetoed the tax cuts declaring it might "hurt" education, while withholding millions of dollars that would go to... education? This guy has turned his sights to national office, methinks. Only true assholes act like this in order to get to the next level.
Nixon was moderately reasonable his first term. He is acting like he has nothing to lose now. Maybe he is sharpening his chops for a US Senate run.
